3:18 Shading process simplified and broken down into 3 steps: 1st step - Primary: big shadows 2nd step - Secondary: the major back muscles 3rd step - Tertiary: tiny shadows for small details (for example, the veins in an arm) The following steps are probably highlights, rendering, and reflected light, which I am still a newbie at, but I don't see it as much of a problem right now. The placement of our secondary and tertiary shadows are highly dependent on our knowledge of the structure, form or anatomy of the object. Edit: If anyone would like to contribute their insights on the artist's process, let us know in the reply section and I will put it here! :D

@@zenithchan1646 No idea, since I don't use clip studio paint. But from what I've observed, the artist probably used air brush for a lot of the lighting, and I think it's essential to have a good understanding of value when using that kinda brush. At 8:06, the artist revised the highlights on Yor's straps with what seems like an airbrush.

Hello unsolicited advice here: watch Marco Bucci's video on color and color notes from his "10 minutes to better art" series. It's so good hahaha taught me how to not really care too much bout what specific colors I need. Tho his art style is definitely different compared to the artist in this video, I'm assuming that fundamentals still apply regardless of style. Hope it helps

You can make money with drawing. Its just the matter of how you market yourself and the product you make. You can treat it as a hobby, or as side income. You can start small, to test the water (if art business is for you, or how u handle it etc). All in all, as long as you enjoy it, its not a waste of time ^^

Long Rant Ahead! I keep coming back to this video because it just looks so amazing. I’m a beginner and am hoping to be a professional illustrator someday, but i have a long way to go. I’m already in 12th grade so i feel that i’m too late. Putting that aside, i love coming back to this and just trying to learn from your work even though it’s a bit hard because it’s a speed paint hahaha. But at times, instead of learning, i instead feel envious and bad because these days i haven’t been drawing well. I know I shouldn’t, but I also keep comparing myself to professionals. It doesn’t help that there are people my age who already draw so well. It’s entirely my fault tho!- i haven’t even once tried sitting down to learn the basics yet because i feel impatient, and i simply want to learn by drawing it myself. I keep thinking that maybe if i draw long enough, I won’t need to learn the basics. Though i know that just makes me arrogant, that’s why i want to stop thinking like that. And basically whenever i draw something good, it’s only because i got lucky and not because i know how proportions, perspectives or shading works. I want to stop feeling impatient and i think part of the reason why I’m impatient in the first place is because like i said i feel like i started too late in digital art. It’s pretty much the same for traditional art- though i’ve had it as a hobby since i was a kid, i never really learned about the basics- i only drew for fun. I know i need to stop doing that,-drawing without knowledge and expecting something good to come out. Even after all that, i still don’t want to give up! I still love drawing after all. I find the process fun. I want to reach the same level as you, and unlock my full potential. I want to be able to create my own style and make original poses, and not just faithfully copying off a reference. If you’ve read this far, thank you. :) i just needed a place to vent.
@새연-g9p2 жыл бұрын
Ty for sharing your thoughts :) I used to think learning digital art was already to late for me when I was your age. Now that I'm a decade older, I wish I didn't stop drawing. I went to a point where drawing, which used to be a fun hobby became such a burden because I couldn't stop comparing my slow progress to other people. But now, I suddenly feel like picking up drawing again, and I will do it for myself. Don't be hard on yourself because I wish I had self-compassion when I was going through years of art block. I hope you don't lose what makes art "fun" for you because you will need that in a long run. I'm not trying to scare you, but when adulting hit me, I never had as much free time as I had when I was still in school to pick up a pen and do some sketches. So cherish these times you have right now :) You got this!!

@@새연-g9p oh thank you so much! this made my day, and not gonna lie, i almost teared up when i read that you're a decade older than me. i'll be cheering for u as well. we both got this! 🤎
@mirunnue74882 жыл бұрын
i love how honest u are with urself throughout the rant!! ik this is corny but you’re still very young, i get that how u think it’s too late to learn tho, but it’s really not :]] everyone has their own pace, you definitely can improve making arts that u love and want as an outcome, the part where you said u were impatient through the process and haven’t really tried to learn it properly relates w me a lil too much loll i’ve been there aswell [sobs in flashbacks], anyways learning art takes time, same as making and finishing professional art it still takes time, so i hope you won’t rush and just enjoy what u love doing :] and i wish you the best throughout ur art journey^^
@miguerys95032 жыл бұрын
Basics sound like the simple first steps, but they are not simple, they are fundamental and very deep subjects, which means you don't just learn them and move on, it's either you learn them and review them periodically, or you don't move at all. And if you are a professional and neglect them, you get stuck. Fundamentals are something you ALWAYS learn from to leap forward. It's like exercice, you just don't get in shape and then forget about exercicing ever again, because you will lose it. And be patient, don't look at the tip of the mountain or where anybody else is, just look at the next two meters in front of you. Try to enjoy the journey, I wish I could tell you is all fun but nothing worthwile doing is without pain and sacrifice, grinding the fundamentals is not fun, but it's worth it. Use references from real life and find good sources to learn the fundamentals, and remember, whenever you don't like what you're drawing, its a good sign, means you can improve.
