Hi Mike. I took your advice and walked away from a signed Isfahan as it did not feel right. I was told the name was “Daowreen Family” and I assumed that if it was real, the price would have been 4-5x higher! Thank you for making me an informed buyer ❤

Great video! We have some obvious fakes, and a couple of amazing originals (family heirlooms). While they are all beautiful, the take-away from this is to not pay top price for a fake. One of the best ways I've found is the weight of the rugs. Real rugs weigh considerably more (2x) than their questionable counterparts. Older rugs have a heavier cotton warp and thicker knots. The newer ones of questionable provenance don't.

Good ideas on carpets. Easy way to tell hand-knotted vs machine made is turn it over. If all knots are uniform, straight and exactly the same- it is machine made. The back of hand knotted carpets will always show irregularities.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Mike. I would like to ask you advice. We are planning to buy one Persian carpet by Parvizian, but I don’t know is this true carpet by master or fake. I have the photo of carpet and signature.

Thank you but I'm so confused. These later rugs you're showing have the knots that are bunched.

Do you do appraisals or can you look at a photos of a carpet and just give general information? We bought a home and a rug was left with other antique items. I’d love to know more about it

Hi, If you look at the descriptions in my videos, you will see the link to a video in which I explain what type of pictures I need. Feel free to send me the pics and while I do not do appraisals, I can certainly rattle my brains and give you some info...
