Jimmy is a character. Opinionated, funny and talented. Not that long ago I rewrote the lyrics as "I far*ted more today than yesterday" for my nephew. Also, wonder what Jimmy doesn't like about Pat Metheny's playing. Maybe the effects?

I have Jimmy Bruno "Burnin" from years ago. I also bought Jimmy Bruno "No Nonsense Jazz Guitar" from the Hot Licks guitar lessons DVDS. I turned on the jazz guitar lesson DVD and immediately I realized that I was not prepared to even be taught jazz guitar. Cowboy guitar chords and a few blues licks were all that I had

I'm a guitarist now, but when I was a kid - and a classical trumpeter (I wanted to be Maynard Ferguson) - I thought guitars were just glorified autoharps for cowboys and hillbillies. One night, the local jazz radio DJ played this version and turned my mind inside out. At first, I couldn't even comprehend what instrument I was hearing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoDch5eYn7R5gpI&ab_channel=Santifaster
@craigbrowning94485 жыл бұрын
@@brandex2011 I must confess, the first Instrument I learned to "play" was an Autoharp. Originally inspired by a Theater Organist in a Pizza Parlor, I got interested in Organ (focusing mainly on Jazz by the time I gained some proficiency). I had dabbling in Various Instruments along the way including Guitar when I was younger, I recently started playing guitar back up again and have taken the risk venturing out to jam sessions with. My coordination is still limited, but I managed to keep up with some more established locals on a song I had figured out only a few hours earlier (a milestone for me on this instrument). On my own, I am working on being able to play the guitar and keep a Bass line going on the Organ pedals. The first version of "I'll Remember April" I heard was Hal Shutz on a Hammond Chord Organ (he does a surprisingly good job considering the instrument), I heard the above mentioned George Shearing version plus a Charlie Parker with Stirrings and Erroll Garner versions around the same time.

I started playing piano quite a while back and it might sound crazy, but it has improved my guitar playing. I'm going through "The Big Book of Jazz" and learning my favorite tunes I play on guitar on piano. I originally wanted to start on piano at age 7 but my parents said it was too expensive and gave me a $20 guitar instead. Maybe it's the kid in me that's having so much fun, but the effects on my guitar playing are noticeable.
