When my aunt died I fell into a deep depression. In the past when I've lost loved ones I would binge on Chick-fil-A for several months and gain 100 lb or more. This time I fell off the wagon with vegan food including lots of impossible burgers. I'm proud that I got back on the wagon without eating animal products. I am now doing a 40-day supervised water fast to get back on track. I will break the fast using doctor goldhammers protocol. Specifically leaf side smoothies. Transitioning to SOS free leaf side soups and bowls and lots of fruit.

@@adamgalas6762 I put this tire on, rode a few miles downhill (1000 ft elevation), then as I was going on flat ground, it started unseating. I was trying to stop but once started, it kept unseating and my inter tube exploded; luckily I had a spare. I have been fixing bike tires for over 50 years. Maybe I made a mistake, but fundamentally as I reset this tire, I realize you have to be very very careful. It is stiffer than normal bike tires and not quite tight enough on the rim, so it very easily shifts into a poor seating position as you are blowing it up. I’m going to try to make it work since I have it, but right now, I’m a bit scared. Luckily this didn’t happen going 30 mph downhill. Check very carefully once you finished that it is evenly seated all the way around, on both sides

From the 1960s on, there is Granose Foods in the UK, and Trufoods in South Africa. In Australia it is Sanitarium, but many of their really nice tinned products from the '60s, '70s and '80s have since disappeared. What is still available is Nutmeat which is gluten based (per serving: saturated fat 1.5g; sodium 428mg; protein 36.4g; fibre 2.8g) and Nutolene which is gluten and peanut based (per serving: saturated fate 2.9g; sodium 432mg; protein 19.5g; fibre 4.1g). Diced Nutmeat can be used with lost of vegetables in a nice vegetarian stew. At work we once decided to have a bring and share lunch. I took a "mince" curry and rice. The "mince" was Sanitarium Casserole Mince (no longer available). Someone at work said, "This meat is so tender." So someone else had to tell him it wasn't meat. It use to annoy me that people at work would turn their nose up at vegetarian food, then we would have a lunch meeting and work would provide lunch. They would specifically order vegetarian for me as the only vegetarian, then everyone else would get stuck into the vegetarian leaving me looking at a platter of non-vegetarian sandwiches! You can take the meat off, but you can still taste it. Someone once came up to me at work to tell me he had been vegetarian for a couple of months and was feeling much better for it. But then indicated he would probably go back to eating meat. If you feel better without it, why go back? My daughter once worked with someone who was very pro-meat, anti-vegetarian. She gave him a tin of Sanitarium Nutmeat. He loved it and couldn't get enough of it! These days I am having to make my own Seitan. Seitan, or "wheat meat", is made from Vital Gluten Flour. Seitan is the base for many commercially available vegetarian products, so I would be interested in research on the positive/negative impacts of seitan. But my question is why do we have to make meat dishes with a meat analogue. It raises an expectation that the vegetarian dish will taste just like the meat equivalent. Why does it have to do that? It can have it's own taste and still taste as good. For example a Seitan Stroganoff. Then there are also plenty of really nice vegetarian dishes with no meat equivalent.

Really insightful discussion on plant-based vs. real meat. Dr. Nagra breaks down the nutritional differences clearly. It's great to see more research on this topic. While plant-based options offer heart health benefits like lower saturated fat, it's important to consider sodium content and choose products with healthy ingredients. Variety is key for a balanced diet.

How do you define "omnivore"? If you define it by behavior humans are omnivores. If you define it by a species that doesn't get plaque buildup in arteries when animals are eaten humans are not omnivores.
