Thanks for the comparisation, very thorough test. Nice to see that the GPS is working on the clones now. I have a S3 clone myself and the GPS is very bad. Also the call quality on the S3 clone is not the best, there is often som annoying noise on the other end of the line. If would be nice if you can comment on the call quality of the s4 clone, and also if there are software updates it would be interesting to see any improvements.

Ah stock 2.4.1 .... I am interested in seeing that Fluffy custom ROM you mentioned ! lol hint hint. A really good and honest review. I have to say my GPS and Camera are awful and more recently it gets warm and seems to suddenly discharge completely when batt gets to 50%. There are lots of niggles but I think its just luck and what you end up with, TBH I didnt even know mine was a clone when I got it !

The mtk-6577 is sufficient for most average users. But it is not good enough for more advanced users and is difficult to install custom ROMs. But if someone needs a smartphone that looks nice and does the everyday tasks of calling, messaging and browsing, then chinese hardware is ok.

Hi, I'm new to smart phones/android phones. One thing I noted is that when connected to the interent after about a week with the clone phone Chinese apps (or something) seems to be pushed to the phone regularly. These appear in notifications, as the script is in chinese, you don't know if you are typing yes no accept cancel or what. Some want responses. Do you know how to stop this or how to find if anything is put into unuusal folders on the phone, then the best way to delete/prevent ?

I noticed that the device shown in this video is the MTK6577. There's a newer model called the MTK6589 out. It's probably closer to the original than the MTK6577. What I wonder is where to find custom ROMs for these phones. You mention in the video that there are custom ROMs but that the phone doesn't support ROMs made for the original S4. I own an original Samsung Galaxy S i9000 that I bought from my cell provider and I've been using CyanogenMod ROM for a long while now. I hope I could get CyanogenMod ROM on the MTK6589 as well. Do you think that's possible?

Acually it has TWO real gesture-sensors, otherwise the homescreen-swipes would not work both sides. Sadly some other sensors for the real (in my eyes needless candy) eye-tracking apps are not implemented (logical, look at the price)... Maybe some of the smart-****** whatever soon can be emulated with frontcam etc, but will never work like the original i guess. At my No.1-S6 (compatible no-logos-version of legend) i disengaged all smart-whatevers, for me they were just annoying

you know there's about 18 different REAL versions of the samsung galaxy s4, right? The specs you listed are for one very specific version of the galaxy s4. There are different ones around the world, under different carriers, with different CPUs and GPUs and amounts of RAM, and they are all manufactured by SAMSUNG.

certainly might just be mine who knows but from what i have seen the chinese ones have crap gps due to the integrated chip antenna. I do think software could be an issue as I usally dont get a lock at all unless I do a couple of setup steps i.e. delete mkgps, restart,engineer mode, YGPS and then gpsfix
