fun fact: we didn't actually originate from CaveMen, the went extinct in the first ice age if i remember right. tbh i don't feel like going through my history notes from class, which is why i'm not saying the name of the group we came from. i think it was the nomads but don't take my word for that i'm ike 99% sure i'm wrong on that. but point is we did note come from cavemen but they did give us a lot of important things like language and fire. i guess if you want more information i can go through my notes but then you gotta ask.
@katelyncaruso18273 жыл бұрын
Consider me asking
@T0aster_Fork3 жыл бұрын
@@katelyncaruso1827 okay so basically the proper term for cavemen is Neanderthal and we originated from the Cro-Magon people. The Neanderthal people died approximately 30,000 years ago. So basically what happened was when the ice age hit, only the Cro-Magon people learned to evolve to live in colder climates. due to the lack of evolving, the Neanderthals became extinct due to not being able to adapt. if you want more facts about the Neanderthals or Cro-Magon i have a list of them my teacher gave me, you just need to ask and i can tell you more. this is just the mere basics of what actually happen but it's all the notes i have about why the Neanderthals went extinct if that makes any sense.
@snakewithapen54893 жыл бұрын
@@T0aster_Fork It's not all 'lack of evolving,' that's kind of farsicle to say. No species in the neolithic era lacked the ability to evolve, some were simply more resourceful. There was a massive prey animal megafauna die-out in the ice age which contributed to famine among hunter-gatherer tribes. Also wars between species over territory and the remaining hunting grounds that killed a lot of people, plus anecdotal evidence of species interbreeding occurred, which all helped to make the already small population of Neanderthal obsolete. Cro-magnon people didn't escape unscathed either, mind you, we've have multiple critical bottlenecks in the past of human history that results in an actually very genetically homogeneous population. Our main advantage was simply our endurance and stamina, rather than the force of the much physically stronger neanderthal people. I'm not saying you're totally wrong, just that I think it's important to note that there are really many factors that can cause the extinction of an intelligent species, not just 'one was able to evolve and the other wasn't.'
@T0aster_Fork3 жыл бұрын
@@snakewithapen5489 yeah sorry i worded it wrong, that's my fault i wasn't really paying attention to how i was wording it and how it could come off. thank you though my history teacher didn't provide us with all the information you just did also, he very quickly skimmed why the Neanderthals went extinct.
@snakewithapen54893 жыл бұрын
@@T0aster_Fork It's alright lol, no worries. Just wanted to point out there are multiple hypotheses of contributing factors for what happened. Most of what I read mainly contributes the decline of neanderthal population to famine caused by a rapidly changing climate killing off most of the plants and large herbivorous animals that neolithic people would hunt. And this sudden pressure cause great tension between different hominid species as we desperately fought battles over remaining territories or moved away to new places, which created yet another blow against them. It's likely that Homo Sapiens were able to power through due to the increased endurance, rather than a higher aptitude for evolution. Neanderthals were much heavier than homo sapiens were (likely showing a need for more food and protein intake, to fuel a muscular body especially in a cold climate) and were already vulnerable at the time of their Central european home becoming encased in ice. There was certainly probably some inability to adapt, but the likely majority of their decline was simply on account of their populations already being small from exposure to diseases that were transmitted by other Sapiens, then large natural disasters such as rapid climate change, and interspecies competition for what was left. (Fun fact, nearly every human alive outside of african ancestry contains some neanderthal DNA! My own father is at 2%)
