Just a note about the cast range thing: some abilities would cast at max range, some would walk to the location to cast. This change now (hopefully) makes all abilities consistent in cast, either with a max range cast or location cast.
@KindredDoomBot11 ай бұрын
I am glad it is an option to turn on and off. Walking to the location and casting is the reason why some champs seem like that cast instantly after flashing. Like Annie when you input Tibbers at a location then flashing before she walks into the cast range so there is less time to react.
@400bas111 ай бұрын
I was thinking some people use the first method (as shown here) as they can buffer it for flash. So I wondered why it was good, but now I get why. The consistency is much better!

@@michiosamuru1463 Even the players don't respect splits/MSI to be something valuable. Like, people of 2019 G2 claimed that 2nd place on worlds in 2019 is bigger achievement than winning MSI. Faker left T1 for a few weeks and his team went from 6-0 into a 7-7, then he came back and carried them to winning worlds. Also, winning worlds is great, but there is no bigger achievement than winning worlds 10 years after your first won worlds. No player in no esports comes close to that. Someone will have the coolest mechanics and win worlds next year, but that someone will not be able to do what faker did. It changed people's perspective on age and burnout in esports. To go from being that to being stomped by teams like KDF, Brion and DRX is as close as you can get to collapsing. Just 5 months ago, the team itself was pretty much speculated to fall apart with people assuming Faker will be forced to retire because of wrist issues. Fast forward to November 26th, T1 achieved what LPL fans termed 一串四 and destroyed 4 LPL teams(personally I don't think BLG should be counted because it was BO1) to win Worlds. Man went from wrist injury and potential retirement to winning Worlds, who else in the entire esports industry achieved such an herculean task? One of the important things to note about Faker's return, is that it proved that the obsession with players being as young as possible and having a small window where they're at their best is false. That's a very big deal in my eyes. Esports in general has had that obsession for a long time, and they've killed a lot of professional players because of it. The atmosphere has always been generally shitty on how they treat players. Just changing the dynamic on that alone deserves recognition.

The cast range thing will make spells more consistent with one another but imo inarguably affects skill expression which has been eroding away as it is and is more important to me as a player. Knowing your cast range to instantly get off an ability without indicators is a part of mastering many champions and taking that away reduces the gap between a good player and a bad one. It’s half the difficulty of landing abilities like viktor e because if you cast out of range you can often distinguish that the champ is tethered to the cast allowing for more time to dodge. Bad change me thinks.

I think Faker deserves the award. You can argue weither or not he had the most impact or whatever, but he's been at the top for a decade and I don't think I ever saw something about him behaving badly or whatever. IMO it's also often overlooked how much Faker does for the Team (and not just him, T1 in general), rather than "win the lane, lose the game". Seeing this kind of approach lead to a title feels much better than having 1-2 Star-Players carry their Teams.
@TakarieZan11 ай бұрын
You out it perfectly. I was about to say I dont know those other players but the fact that a) he came back and got a worlds tournament is insane b) not all tournaments are created equal. Worlds is the biggest league tournaments and one of the biggest e sports tournaments out there and c) his impact on the team is insane and he did this while returning from injury. So I would say Faker is worthy; especially because NEITHER of these two individuals mentioned anyone else on that list that had a better path. None of them mentioned their achievements. I dont really get doninate. Like I’ve only seen him in drama or complaining about something.

It's crazy seeing all these faker fanboys in the comments say "of course faker should have gotten the award, who else?". You probably haven't watched a single match of any other e-sport, let alone name any other great player of any other game that ever mattered. I personally would have given it to someone like Arslan Ash, won his 4th evo, just like a certain someone, is also the goat of his game, hmmm, and comes from a country that doesn't even distribute Tekken, doesn't have sponsored arcades, and faces literal hours of power outages every day. They make their own makeshift arcade machines and controllers, and people import the games and parts when they travel to other countries. Guy is the undisputed best while coming from a community that was literally unknown before him and a country that is holding him back at every turn, but no lets give it to faker because he used to be really good like 7 years ago and now he played really good for two days and won worlds, neat.

When he came back from injury T1 wasnt even making playoffs let alone worlds and he quickly sent them straight to the LCK final with little to no preparation. He proved he was the most important piece in a team of talented but still young players who will only get better from here. He made league pro play great and he holds up just right while others from his generation fell off and even retired. But i guess an Esports historian, whatever the fck that means, knows better. Besides the award is kinda weird in the first place since you can't really compare pro players among different games as the levels differ. Still i believe that Faker is the most dominant out of all the other candidates, as he continues his legacy after 10 years, not many players can boast that.

In my opinion, the Azir play, for example, was a bit overhyped. The e -> q -> flash -> r combo is something that even most gold players can pull off. Don't get me wrong, I was so excited and proud that Faker and his team won Worlds again. But it rather felt like his team carried him more than he carried his team. Well I guess ppl just like the publicity of faker winning his 4. world medal now, as iconic as he is.

Cbolão is the real deal in Brazilian competitive scene. And a quick trivia about it, cebola is onion in portuguese, and cebolão is big onion. This name came from a joke with the official tournament being named CBLoL that is pronounced arguably alike cebolão. There is a rule that forbid to ban an OTP champion. In the early editions of the tournament it used to be overtaken by full OTP teams that destroyed teams full of pro players, when people started mocking pros they started forming teams earlier and training to compete, from then on we only have pro player team champions.

The DIFFERENCE people are not realizing between Faker and all the other Pros is super simple. Everyone knows Faker, nobody knows a nobody (i mean that very literal). Faker played and Won the Worlds when the game was on its PEAK (Overwatch and LoL tournaments talks every week, "ESports Job" was more popular than KZbinr). He left when other games stole the spotlight for ESports (Fortnite Esports, CSGO, CoD tourneys bringing attention splitting audiences). People have NEVER even heard of who won the next Championships, yet people recognize Faker from Animations, Music, Clips, Memes, and just looking at fucking LoL. Who cares if "this guy did amazing the last 1/2/3 years", cuz new people werent watching these past few years, the audience is just not the same, the popularity and traction these Teams bring is so much more Niche and Closed than how it started. You could hear "Game tournaments taking a storm" on the NEWS, meanwhile you now only hear about these events if youre ALREADY IN the gamingspace.

about the QOL change, to me every time that was forced (Syndra Q, Seraphine Q) I called it a nerf, and the reason is simple, I want my character to use that ability on that spot, not max range, therefore I want them to move closer and use it and not use it instantly at current max range. Viktor E I'm unsure of how it'll be since it's such a unique ability, but abilities like Sera Q are really bad with this.

There are many more dimensions to how "good" a player is than strictly their performance and numbers in competition. Faker is a player who makes everyone around him better, from his direct leadership to his leading by example. The other thing that makes Faker so good is his longevity. Every season, there's a player better than him. They peak at the right time, the meta favors their playstyle, and they have a tremendous year or two. Marin, Uzi, Perkz, Caps, Knight, DoinB, etc, all have been in the "best player in the world right now" conversation. And they've all fallen back out of that conversation after a season or two. Faker, at his mechanical worst, has still been top 3 KR midlaners, and at his best has been the best midlaner in the world by a longshot. That level of consistently high performance is INSANE.

If the general public is asked to vote, it WILL be a popularity contest.
