Here is two different tricks for doing the same job... each way needs its own tools so you can choose the one you like and have the tools for... Tell me in the comment area which method you think is better?

Excellent tips I just bolt crop off the end going into form first at an angle, love the snap off👍

I just cut a slot with a metal Sawzall blade. That's an interesting first method.

No worries.. we’ll depends.. from 1/4 rod to whatever big I would need.

What kind of clay (medium brown) are you using on your big game heads? I have been using Critter clay but the shrinkage is getting too much and I'm looking for different materials.

The colour of the clay I use is distracting people. It is regular potters clay. I used to use critters and found no difference between that and the regular potters except it’s high price. So I switched. I deal with shrinkage too. I am trying different methods along the way to see if I can reduce shrinkage once I find out I’ll share.

Are these support rods for heavily antlers or horns from caribou or Ibex etc.

Oh it can be used on any mount… I basically use them specially when I resize the form with cuts., so I can give them more strength. Or on any part of the body that I think I weakened during the process or might break with some pressure during the work.
