This game can be very unforgiving if you’re not sure on what you’re doing.

Interesting how in the manual it basically shows off pictures of the F-16c model than the a model that's represented in game, maybe they were trying to kind of suggest that the plane you're flying is supposed to be the c model but couldn't really switch that over fully so the only c model representation is a alternate hud. By the way, the autopilot setting actually gives the control over to the ai pilot in the f-16 you fly and isnt just a waypoint to waypoint system since they actually have their own stats. So if you don't want to fly you can basically just set the game to "autopilot" and let it attempt the mission by itself while you watch.

Yeah, I was wondering about the cockpit too. It's a weird mix - rearranged A model cockpit - no UFC, instead you have a radar screen which normally sits way lower, between pilot's legs - but that was mostly due to packing all the important instruments on one screen, later when they released F/A-18, its cockpit was more authentic, with all 3 MFDs, you had to "look down" to see the bottom one. But if you consider the weapons it can carry - I don't think A model could carry AMRAAMs, but the radar depicted in game is AN/APG-66 which was used on As, C model got AN/APG-68.

The old favorite. 8-) Most realistic F16 sim in that time. And the dinamc champaign is very correct.

Thankfully in DOSBox memory management is a breeze, you don't need to worry about it at all.
