At the moment, I'm so busy making new things that I don't think I'll ever finish them. I'm also thinking about modifying the falcon.

Hi Kanai, do you feel any positive evolution by using the Bell shape lift management ? does your Zwing system fit with it? please let me know , congratulations what is your actual wing loading in gr/dm² ?
@inakakoubouKANAIАй бұрын
The shape of the wings is evaluated based on the feeling when thrown by hand and the way it glides. I have never calculated the wing loading, but I designed it to be about 750g for a wingspan of 1500mm to be close to that of a real bird. I feel that if the wing loading is reduced, the control method will change.

@@inakakoubouKANAI In my humble opinion, without having calculated it, i can see on your plan that it's a moderated but nice foil twisting evolution, and i think that you can push forward to a bit more twisted values, with more chambered foils at center of wing (rib 1), and really thinner foil at tips. Less induced drag on the tips will help for better performance, handling, introduicing less corrections , deflections and more yaw stability . Thick foils doesn't mean that they are well adadpted to the needs, in particular on tips of wing, ribs 6 7 8 9 could be twice thinner in a nice progression, keeping the same chamber. I would suggest to keep this geometry of wings , which allows for easier rear Center of gravity. The bell shape lift distribution is the major key of birds flying without fin. I also see 150 grams less on this model to achieve something like 23gr/dm² instead of 30 (which certainly introduce a lot of sink rate and unwanted minimal speed). Removing your motor and putting your 2 tail servos in front of the CoG would help in this direction. Your Flap and ailerons are nice to my eyes and seem to help the control in a good way. Congratulations again for all this pasionate work and for making us dreaming like children ! My message is only in a helping purpose, You are the master !

Thank you for the valuable information. I will try my best to think about it.
Another clip from high performance sailing where a sail with 2 skins is used and an asymmetrical mast that rotates to control the leading edge of the sail/wing. The depth of the sail is manipulated as required by the use of the outhaul, which also controls the trailing edge of the sail in combination with battens in the sail. In these boats they are also linking the sail controls, which may be a complication when problems arise seemingly requiring a process to be adhered to, rather than simply directly manipulating the out-of-trim control surface. kzbin.info/www/bejne/boa0q6tsbZ2iZqc

@@inakakoubouKANAI I'm guessing that you didn't mean Soft wing ™kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2m4dGyknLaMq8U Changing the camber of the airfoil, which may also change the chord of the wing and also impact the twist of the wing, seems complex.
@inakakoubouKANAIАй бұрын
I see. I mistakenly thought that the camber was changed by using a double thin wing.

@@inakakoubouKANAI In elite sailing there was a trend towards hard surfaces in wingsails, but they were complex ,expensive & not particularly fault tolerant. To control cost, a simple double skinned sail that attaches to corners of the D-shaped mast is currently used, with a unique approach being to independently control each sail-skin, which may be significantly in contact with each other. The Swiss "Soft Skin" (previously linked) looks to be another approach entirely, where the shape is controlled by geometric insertions that reside between the skins. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npOzhaF8a9GcfJo
