Looking at the countryside and the slip's taken its fair to say this is simply crow killing and nothing to do with the ringing flight...

Agree, although some flights can be quite aerial, it is not ringing-up flights.

To be honest, I don’t know how can you make ringing flights with the fit peregrine or gyr x peregrine on crows? Fit peregrine is simply overwhelming the crow with its superior level flight speed and climb rate. Slip distance simply doesn’t matter. I have seen slips from half a mile, and the peregrine will simply climb at steady angle, while the crows will try to outclimb the incoming falcon the same way. In incredibly short time the peregrine will overtake the crows while staying above them, and when in position it will swoop down, cutting the flock and will pick one and pursuit it. Crow is simply too slow to be able to implement ringing flight in order to outclimb the fit peregrine! It always comes down to pursuit flight no matter the slip distance, and crow trying to outmaneuver peregrine, or trying to find the cover in order to save itself. On the other hand, flights on fit feral, or homing pigeons are always ringing flights that end up in pigeon outclimbing the falcon, or the falcon outclimbing the pigeon. In the second case the pigeon will try to outmaneuver the peregrine in pursuit flight, but usually that doesn’t last long and pigeon will plummet towards the earth with the falcon on its tail.

@@Semendrija123 You don't slip at flocks only Corvids on passage with no or little cover, if a crow is given the right conditions it will ring up.

@@josephking1947 yeah, if the crow is at significant height advantage over you, and if you slip the falcon directly beneath the crow, the crow will start to ring up. But in any case, the crow doesn’t stand the chance against the fit peregrine if there is no cover. On my channel you can find the 3D GPS data on the Calidus peregrine male going after the racing pigeon. The flight lasted for more than 35 km, with elevation close to one kilometer, and the male was able to fly at more than 120 km/h in a straight line when leveled with the pigeon, forcing the pigeon to dive down. When faced with such a falcon, crow is simply outclassed in every possible way! So, however you look at it, if there is no cover, slips on crows with the fit peregrine are simply crow killing. But I agree with you, giving the crow head start/height advantage will provide beautiful flights 👍

@@Semendrija123 I agree no crow will outfly a falcon, there's not many species that could outfly a falcon but there is a few that can, hence why engineering the slip is paramount to achieving the correct end result, a friend of mine flew a peri x lanner at crows in semi enclosed country which he had some coincidental mounting flights with, one 5 min ringing flight which was filmed, There's a channel called Pigeonmania whose pigeons fly in a mountainous valley with a Tiercel a Falcon a Male Goss and Sparr, the flights go on forever, incredible flights, some climbing out of visual range, keep well 👍
