I think this has gone far from normal. The birds of prey are constantly breeding and with no predator for them they will surely eat all of the wild birds there. You should definitely do something about it

Right about colour, doesnt matter what colour. A hunting predator be it a cat, falcon, dog whatever is going to take the weakest, the oldest, the sickest yhe most unattententive first. Why waste its energy chasing a well fed, healthy, fit and alert bird when there are plenty of others no matter what colour or species which are easy to get? If your birds are not healthy and properly feed (that means not having them trap like they are starving) they will not feel confident to take on the falcon. Few months ago you we commenting your reds were no good, now two of them are highly thought of and potential breeders. So many pedigrees Australia and internationally have vividly coloured birds as performance birds, Van de Bulck, silver Shadows, Red Janssens and Jos thone Avril, not mention the Pryors, Goodgers and Wickhams. Honestly forget coloured theories, those theories have been floating around club rooms for decades. Feed them, have them healthy. I have falcon problems where i am, as per previous clip, you have heaps of crows, they are your friends, they will chase away a patrolling falcon, feed them eggs, scraps whatever, close to your loft. They will visit everday for food and if a falcon comes by it is their territory, you are their food source, they will chase a falcon away. Now..... other options? I am sure you have heard them, and you state reasons why. But you are in the country side and who would know?

Black chickens seem to keep hawks at bay, Black Pigeons and black crows might give them Falcons something to think about. Just saying. give it a go, there's a large numbers of crows where I live ,and my colored birds are living to a good age. You can only go on what nature has to protect it self

It's weird to me seeing parrots out in the wild getting plugged by falcons. We only had two native parrots here in the States and one of them, the Carolina Parakeet is extinct, and the other has limited distribution in the Rio Grande Valley on the Texas-Mexico border. We always think of parrots as strictly aviary birds and pets here.

In my area puget sound, WA, the hawks target the light colored. Most of my dark pigeons get by ok🧐

All the songbirds will be extinct in the next ten years. Then all these Falcons they've encouraged to breed will all die. Why are they messing with the food chain

I wouldn’t. It’s the Falcons naturally prey, at that point it’s too late to help it much…just let her have it. The more parrots they eat the less pigeons they go after.

@@pronster1 Falcon has got to eat too. I’m not immature enough to think I can save every little animal from all predators. I respect predators like I do all animals. She worked for that meal, who are you to decide if she gets to eat or not? I used to kill all falcons and hawks. It’s illegal and I did it anyway to “protect my birds”. I’ve grown up a lot since then.

Sorry to be bombarding you, you are doing a great job with your birds, but would you consider getting rid of all the covers off your loft????? Get rid of all the plastic sheeting and netting. The falcon knows your birds are there, let your pigeons know the falcon is there, yes she might hang off the wire, yes she might scare them but .... if your birds can clearly see outside, they will watch her too, they will know what gum tree she launches her attack from, they will know what time of day she floats by on her patrol, your birds will know just as much about her as she knows about them in time. Not leave the loft thinking where is she coming from. Open the loft up, she wants to land on it the crows will fix her up, at least your birds know what she looks like and how she flies, they will watch her grab parrots and learn about her. Have them sheltered from rain and weather but open up the flights so they can learn what outside looks like, let them learn about their foe.
