For everyone who complains about chord mistakes at the beginning, here are the answers: 1. Because he closed his EYES 2. He closed his eyes because he wanted to FEEL the music 3. He felt the music because he is A GREAT COMPOSER 4. He is a great composer because he put his HEART on it 5. He put his heart on it because it is a MASTERPIECE 6. It is a masterpiece because HE IS A GODDAMN JOE HISAISHI

WHERE IS THE MISTAKES
@TheGentleUncle3 жыл бұрын
Nope, music would not be music if it was nothing but feeling. It's of no value to play shit with all the world's feeling. The right version of your comment would be that it is given that you have already done your hard work and almost guarantee yourself that you won't do any "mistake", so that you can focus your mental capacity on "feeling". And that is possible only to a variable degree in each case. Also a mistake is not a mistake only if you could play it "right" and chose to not do so (so as to not justify one's laziness as "innovativeness" or "artistry"). If music had been just feeling, everyone would have been a musician.
@anatolitsampa4 жыл бұрын
For the non musicians - there is no mistake! If you watch the full concert, the previous piece ends on a C major chord with a very prominent E note that can’t be ignored :) But this piece is in a different key (G minor). So for a smooth transition he starts on a different chord than the original, one that is related to C major and includes that E note (A minor). Basically he adds a link between the two pieces. With the next chord (the one that people perceive as “mistake”) he actually returns to the original key. The entire concert is perfection ❤️

well this should put the debate to rest. most people commenting here including myself didnt know the beginning context. but this is absolutely what happened.

Joe Hisaishi is in my opinion the best film composer so far, his music is so emotional and melancholic beautiful. Hollywood composers are great but their music is music just doesn't have the same emotional appeal.
@AliManclark9 жыл бұрын
I agree with you about Hisaishi being one of the best film composers EVER, but there are plenty of Western and Hollywood film composers who's music really kicks you in the feels and connects with you on a raw emotional level. Michael Giacchino works wonders with his music for Pixar, especially Married Life from Up (which never fails to make me cry 😂). James Newton Howard is a god in the feels department, and Hans Zimmer can sway off of his general 'punch-in-the-face epicness' factor in his music to make some really emotional pieces, like Corynorhinus from Batman Begins. Nicholas Hooper did the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and the Dumbledore's Farewell score and scene is, in my opinion, one of the most breathtaking film moments ever. So what you said may have been a bit too much of a generalisation, and I see what you mean, but there are plenty of badass Hollywood and Western composers out there 😁

You guys, that was not a mistake. I even much prefer this version because of the surreal unearthly and that mystic feeling you get when he started off. It was like his very own soul translated the original into the next level of depth in the contemplation and interpretation of the song itself. He's the composer of the song. No such thing as a mistake!

Aeezen Tester I watched a video (don’t remember what it was called) but it basically explained that Joe uses a mixture of the Classic Western scale and the traditional Japanese scale. The Japanese scale sounds a bit off to us making it feel ‘unnatural’ or ‘surreal’ but because it is mixed with the Western scale, it sounds amazing.

The chord change in the beginning isn't a mistake Why is everyone saying it is? This whole song is a variation Some of the notes are placed differently And it's not like since he closed his eyes he hit the wrong notes A good pianist is able to hit the correct notes even with eyes closed And it's not like the crowd didn't “notice” his “mistake” (everyone noticed the chord change) I think the crowd knew exactly what was going on

Chromatic thirds is neither a chord change nor a mistake.
@Gruskinator4 жыл бұрын
it's not a mistake, he just started in Am instead of Gm and modulated downwards. It was 100% intentional, even if the result was less than pleasing. I would venture to say that he probably wanted to change things up a bit and add it to see what it would sound like. You do not compose and perform on the piano for years and start in the wrong key. That would be like getting into the wrong side of the car... and realizing that there is no steering wheel 😄
