The thing is that the British had already entered into negotiations with Argentina to sell the islands. But since the Argentine junta was unpopular, they thought that taking the island by force would distract the people from their social issues. Since the British had been willing to part with the islands, the Argentines didn't think they'd respond, underestimating how humiliating it would have been for the British to back down. Thatcher couldn't have avoided war, even if she wanted to.

@@fabiospasiano9885 Except wars are not football games and are not determined by a tallied score 🤦♂️ and you tell me to think before I type lol The Argentines had two major advantages in that they were already in much closer proximity to the islands (making it far easier to project power effectively), and in that they were the defending side by the time British forces arrived. As any idiot should know, it is generally much harder to take a fortified position than it is to defend it and typically results in the attacking side sustaining heavier casualties. Now imagine Argentina trying to invade the Falklands now that they are more adequately defended. Somehow I don't think that would turn out very well for them.

The most stupid thing that my country did, our dictator did that just to distract our people from their missery, he wanted them to think that our country was great.. it was the last try for holding up his autoritarian regime. The thing that most hurt me is that 649 of our people got killed, most of them didn't even known what war was about, most of them were kids, my dad was one of them. In argentina we celebrate the Malvinas day to claim for out soberany over the islands, but I just only take that day to remeber those kids who were sent to the islands. I will never forget, when the war was over they took the wounded men and the remaining soldiers to Buenos Aires, but they took them in Buses with it windows covered in black. Most of then would comitte suicide because the mental issues that the war left on them. It was a war that shouldn't have happened

@@shaunmadden7324 National pride is a powerful tool that most governments around the world use to manipulate people for their purposes. Galtieri used the war as a distraction and he sent to war teenagers who didn't even know how to use a gun. When about to lose his power all his cards were loosing hands, winning an impossible war was his only possible hand to stay at the power. In other words he was an idiot who killed both Argentinians and British and destroyed the relationship between both countries for selfish purposes at the cost of many lives. Lesson. There is no merit on national pride, we don't choose were we are born. As a British person it doesn’t annoy or humiliate me that we lost that war, I’m actually glad we did. Losing it was the right thing to happen, was immensely good for the world. Do you think Germans today wished the Nazis had won WW2 just so they could add another victory to the tally of German successes? No. Be prepared to lose bc it happens to everyone, and be proud when your losses are the right kind.

The Americans really stuck it to the British. Almost joyful at what they thought wold be British humiliation. And not caring that 2000 British descended people would have to live under the Argentinian junta. Also it was really lying deceitful reporting in saying the British had expelled the Argentinians from the islands 150 years before. Argentina didn't exist back then, it was a Spanish colony and Britain and Spain had competing colonial claims to the islands. The British kicked out two, two, Spaniards. Hardly kicking out the Argentinians like we'd kicked out some native population. No Indians were living there. How can Argentina be claiming it "back". Their only claim is Spain's colonial claim. Pretty simplistic and deceitful reporting by the Americans. I guess it's true, there are no friends only interests.

F. OPE nope they didn't, and wouldn't until well after the British had already settled them and established their own small town there. Klown On Islam The remaining Semite faction, (the Arabs) along with the Persians were miffed about not having a their revelation as had Judaism and Christianity. So they saw in Muhammad a saviour. He was an illiterate, depraved by adultery and seeking solace retired to seclusion on the mountain where he was supposedly handed the word of god by Gabriel. He was first taken seriously at the temple in Mecca, by its greedy guardians who viewed him as a threat to their pilgrimage business. Then by the Jews of Yathrib (Medina) who were more friendly as they had been professing the coming of a messiah, though later were disappointed in his claims. It eventually fell to the differing Arab (again unread) tribes to support him. The divine struggle through war, only took them as far as the Balkans and Med. Islam requires complete submission from its followers and non followers alike, yet nothing in its teachings could justify such arrogance. The history of Muhammad was set out 120 yrs after his death by one individual, the original text being lost. The exception being one recent discovery, carbon dating possibly placing it to around 20yrs after the prophet, though denied by Muslim academics. The schism between Shia and Sunni came before Islam had even developed a system as Muhammad left no heir apparent even though he was a prolific father, a general and politician. The caliphs arguing over who should take the mantle, provide evidence to the assumption that the faith is man made. As is the assertion that soon after Muhammad had died and many Sunnis had perished in the fighting, that anyone who could remember anything of the aural teachings were gathered together, as was any material that had fragments and sayings recorded on, to compile one complete document. Other's believe it was compiled later by the fourth caliph not the first, founder of Shiism. The majority of Sunnis regard another caliph who reigned from 644-656 to have compiled the definitive version from differing versions of the text, then destroying any other rival versions. This was an act of vanity outdoing what was done in Alexandria to censor the Christian Bible. Arabic text wasn't even standardised until the latter part of the 9th century. Then there's the Hadith, conveying the sayings of the companions of the prophet and actions of Muhammad, which is passed down aurally and must be supported by the testament of purportedly reliable witnesses, a told b who heard it from c, etc. Most of the Hadith has been shown to be taken from the gospels, bits of the Torah, Indian proverbs, Persian maxims, Greek philosophy, and even a nearly word for word reproduction of the Lord's Prayer, essentially rendering the Hadith plagiarism at best. This all makes it difficult for scholars to determine or even dispute what happened in Mohammed's time. Islam has been shown to be built on the backs of previous beliefs, religion, philosophy and doctrine. Allah himself is professed as being a monoglot as the only true revelation is in Arabic (although there is evidence that Aramaic and Syriac were also used in the first manuscripts, Semitic languages also employed throughout early Judaism and Christianity) therefore inaccessible to the uneducated, i.e. the masses, then later others that had no knowledge of Arabic. To have to learn another language to fully comprehend the revelation seems strange as it's supposed to be for all. Therefore interpretation since and currently has been controlled by the elite. Unlike the other monotheistic faiths, there has been no reformation in Islam and even suggestion of attempting to do so is met with dismissal, suppression or worse. Islam is considered to be a new faith, yet the final revelation and true word of god. The so called toleration of people of other faiths is present in Islam as with the other major religions. Although within the Hadith is the rule that other sins can be forgiven at Allah's discretion, whereas the sin of not following him is unforgivable, a rule Obviously borrowed from the Ten Commandments. The unrivalled honour for martyrdom is also deplorable, as it invites violence in the name of god. What is more likely that a man is chosen to be a transmitter by god to relay already existing revelations, or to utter some existing revelations and claim they are from god? Once again because of the supposed duty of the faithful to the scriptures (common among all religions), faith stymies the chance of free inquiry and the emancipation that it brings.

So Argentina, invaded an Island. Turned Stanley into a filthy mess, used illegal scrapping methods to put Marines on South Georgia, took many losses against Royal Marine detachments on initial landings at South Georgia and Falklands despite major numeric and armour advantage subsequently censored from history, had help from the Soviet Union, South American states, France & Israel, the BBC (who gave away the British Paratroopers positions) and traitor Labour politician (who said the British were listening to Argentine codes), planted thousands upon thousands of landmines still plaguing the island, and couldn't be bothered to collect their own brave souls so the British had to ferry the Argentine POWs home!

Fascinating view into the psyche of the Americans: 1: ‘Argentina recovered The Falklands’, Argentina never owned the islands and didn’t exist at the time. 2: Their extremely premature gloating at a close ally was shocking indeed. 3: finally, this look into their minds displays worrying lack of empathy or understanding of basic geopolitics, when Japan attacked Hawaii the USA went berserk (having ignored British warnings) yet seemed happy to take the Argentinian side. What with Obama and his ‘back of the queue’ crack, I think it may be time to re-assess exactly who our friends are.
