I agree with the in person color consultation. Since we live in the same area, I recommend Ginger Burr, of Total Image Consultants. I had my colors done by Ginger a few years ago and use my palette all the time. She’s in Lynn on the Swamscott line. I like your podcast. I also shop at Another Yarn. Maybe we will cross paths there one day. Can’t wait to get into cardigan knitting too! Keep up the good work! 😁👍

What a fun, inspirational video!! I live in an area that doesn't see super cold winters, 40"s mostly, so seeing the cardigans was great. I think I've watched this video in 3 parts, because I keep scurrying off to Ravelry and getting distracted looking for pattern inspiration. 🤣 I've already started a colourwork DK hat because the weather here in the Netherlands has been very confused lately. I also want to make the Towy mitts by Knitlib (Suzen), and I'm hoping to re-start my frogged cardigan soon. Just need to swatch this time. I also love the idea of a V-neck cardigan vest/slipover/waistcoat type thing, as a layering piece. Haven't found a pattern yet though.

Hi there - i love your videos. You do an amazing job producing quality videos in both content and visuals which is great to see in knitting vlogs. (I was a producer in my former life). It is your channel so you do you but if I can suggest, respectfully, that perhaps you slow down just a little. I know on TikTok and other social media outlets influencers are speaking so quickly but on KZbin I think you have a little more leeway. :) thanks again for great content!!

Seasons can be defined in two ways: astronomical seasons (based on the earth's position around the sun, and defined by the solstices and equinoxes), and meteorological seasons, (defined by temperature cycles and weather).... it's a-ok to consider fall to begin in September (meteorological) rather than waiting for the equinox to say it is astronomical fall.

You definitely have cool undertones, so winter colors make sense for you. I have pretty obvious yellow undertones and have determined that my best color palette is deep autumn. But I still look pretty good in some of the deeper jewel tone winter colors. I'm a little jealous that you can wear gray though. Grays just look terrible on me.

The thing that really grabbed me to get me into fall knitting was Stephen West's new Woolly Waffle sweater, I saw it come out and was instantly like "yep, that's what I'm making next" and I'm loving it so far! I love your videos! And I am planning to knit most of the things you are showing here. That sweater you are wearing - Chef's Kiss!!! Unfortunately I cannot find any items from Sewrella at this time. Also, where did you find that amazing color card? Do you have an actual physical copy of that?
@neknits
@neknits Жыл бұрын
Sewrella has seasonal yarn always in stock but I believe they just closed their summer collection - I’m sure their Autumn collection will be out soon! You can also follow them on instagram to hear about when their pre order collections open. Secondly, I googled “dark winter color palette” and the color card was one of the first image results! You can search any seasonal palette and I believe they all come from The Concept Wardrobe.

I know color analysis is underrepresented with POC examples - that people with dark hair and eyes offend wind up typing themselves as winters. But in another video, I think you mentioned potentially being a muted summer? As a fellow muted summer, I definitely think that’s a closer match. You look so good in the sweater you’re wearing here, a dusty, greyed pink. Winters tend to look great in hot pink, bright red, cobalt blue, black-if those aren’t colors you’ve been drawn to wear in your everyday life, it might be because you instinctively know they don’t bring out your best. Anyway, I just wanted to say, trust your gut! Online tools are often wrong, but as a fiber artist who works with colors, you know more than you think you do about which colors suit you best. Take a second look at summers-there are some good resources I’ve found on Reddit about lighter and cooler types on people with Asian heritage, if you haven’t already seen them.

Great insight! I would love to one day get a full in-person analysis which I know is the most accurate. Until then I will take a look at muted summer palettes too!

Thank you all the fall inspiration ideas! That charcoal/black zipper sweater is amazing! Is it difficult to sew the zipper in, does the pattern explain how to do it well?
@neknits
@neknits Жыл бұрын
There is a video tutorial linked in the pattern but the directions are spoken in Danish only. However I was still able to follow the video with my first zipper sweater and didn't find it too difficult! If anything it's just a slow and tedious process (I hand sewed but I'm sure you can machine sew it if you want!)

So nice to see people getting their colors done. When I was young in the ..ahem.. 80s, we got classified by seasons. It was so accurate and still holds true. Yes, you are definitely a Winter, and I am a Summer. Nice not to have to wade through wrong color choices. When you know, you know :)

Such nice inspiration!!! I’ve knit with juniper moon farms Patagonia a couple of times and I would definitely recommend holding another strand with it! Such a lovely episode again, Amy! The wine color of that tee looks beautiful on you. Loved hearing about your inspiration and your line up. I adore autumn in New England, nowhere else is quite the same. Congratulations on having finished your summer knits and now being all set to start with fall! The April cardigan is also on my list and I’m thinking of casting on the Dornie Sweater by Rebecca Clow. I knit the Sille slipover for my husband last fall, it was super quick, is really warm and looks polished, maybe because its more fitted. All your creams and whites have me wondering if I should also pick something in that direction, they look so crisp and glowy! Can’t wait to see what you produce 😊

The Eva cardigan is definetly on my list! I want to make some tank tops in wool as well, which I think will be great for layering or for wearing at home during winter (I live in a new build so it’s too warm for sweaters). Would love to give cabled socks a go as well. For the weekend hat: consider sizing down on the needles! I knitted it last year, and it’s way too big as the ribbing is so flexible. That was an excellent example of Girl Math in explaining your purchase of the zipper from Petite Knits.
