Ok but "of elegant age" is brilliant. The coolest, most prestigious way I've ever heard someone say "old" in my life.

I looooove the shirred tops with puff sleeves. I’m a kibbe R, and I find these tops to be flattering and extremely versatile. I wear them in darker solid colors in the fall and in florals in the spring/summer. It’s just very difficult for me to find tops that fit over my chest lol, so I am actually obsessed with this trend.

Aly! I’d love a series on maternity wear for the different body types- there seems to be a big hole in this area. Like how to work with a large baby bump and still honor a woman’s natural proportions. You always have the best eye for these things :)

Excellent tips! Thank you for pointing and correcting things out. Too tight doesn't look good on a lot of body types and shapes, especially if the fabric is thin. A few years back I shifted my style to a more relaxed fit, and I thought I was out of style, but that is what worked for me. I'm glad to see it not just me.

I agree with the tips you are giving.. Especially when it comes to finding the right fit for clothing. I work in a clothes shop and I see too many people (mainly women) trying to squeeze into items that don't fit well.. It's never a good look. And yes.. When asked for my opinion I do tell them politely that the fit would be much more flattering in a different size. Please remember: sizes are only a guideline and a number ❤

Not for romantics. As a romantic I can't go for "classic, straight, boxy". It adds 15kg to my look. The only thing I agree with is not wearing leggings with a cropped top - that's entirely juvenile. Other than that no, sorry, I'm going for lantern sleeves for my non-existent shoulders and an accentuated waist, whether it's thick or thin material. It just really irritates me that NOBODY considers romantics when speaking about general fashion. General fashion is 180° opposite of a romantic's requirements. There at least needs to be a disclaimer or an admission that romantics should follow these rules carefully, considering a multitude of exceptions. There is very little stylish and structured clothes with an accentuated waist for an acceptable price, therefore if my curves need to be hugged in some part of my body - so be it. When I'm rich I'll hire a personal taylor and will go all out on adjusting stylish, structured, expensive clothes to my figure. But as it stands the "unstylish" store clothes will just have to do. I'm not wearing what's fashionable for the sake of following trends and ruining my romantic silhouette. I see romantic body types wearing "stylish, fashionable" clothes every day and they look like scarecrows. So much for splurging on the latest fashion. It just won't do for a romantic.
@rosethorn02324 ай бұрын
I think you misheard her, because she did actually say that lantern sleeves would be best on romantics/someone with sloped shoulders. But the shirring part still applies, it looks pretty cheap on anyone.
@OlgaRykov4 ай бұрын
@@rosethorn0232 I think you misunderstood me, rather than I misheard. My point is that while lanterns are an exception for certain features as is admitted in the video, so are many other things on that list, which were not admitted as such. Shirring is not one of them, but let me absolve myself from spelling out each and every feature that does or doesn't force to categorize each item as an exception. I will let you apply your own logic and knowledge to do so if, indeed, you understand the requirements of a romantic body type. And I hope, against my better judgement and extensive social experience, that you are not one of those people, who hang on every word of a person you subscribe to, regardless of whether they are right or wrong about something, and that you are capable of a more complex discourse.
@angel-anuradha3 ай бұрын
Lmao scarecrows is funny. As a romantic, I agree. I’ve given up on “modern” styling.
@ZurditaDinamita2 ай бұрын
Yeah, contemporary fashion is pretty yang: it's all about straight lines, minimalism, oversized (and sometimes all at once!)... But just as the title says, lantern sleeves are not for fall 2024. You romantic and soft girls can still rock it, they simply are not a trend. ((Anyways, now with the aesthetics boom, I feel like all shapes are and aren't trendy at the same time? Like, we can see gorpcore, coquette, mobwife, acubi etc on the streets all at the same time. So what's really fashionable now?))

Nice and thank you! However I’ll not diss my sleeky black leather DNA motor jacket to switch it up for a much larger boxy coat. Much of the clothes made today are way way worse tailored than let’s say 15 years ago. That’s because everything has to be sold online, and nobody knows their actual sizing of certain brands anymore. Many people don’t buy in stores anymore. Hence more and more people are looking shabby, no matter how much they payed for their outfits
@pinkroses1354 ай бұрын
I do miss more in person shopping. Not a lot of options if you are petite or tall. They tell you to go online. 🙄
@hildaroth93164 ай бұрын
I disagree with 3 things in this video and one of them is the leather jacket. The OG style of this jacket is the narrow design, the boxy style is never ever ever going to be classic for me....

Excellent video! Thank you. I'm a leggings girl, but I only wear black cotton ones. I spend many hours a week in the car, and they are definitely the most comfortable thing to wear for that. However what I'm finding is that the long tunic length sweaters and sweatshirts in stores are not long enough to cover the rear end. I think those are out of style now. Instead I'm buying thrifted sweater dresses. I've found some really beautiful cable knit ones.
@nele90454 ай бұрын
Yes to the sweater dress, such a cute look for fall/winter! I personally think colourful leggings are fine for working out! But then again I would only wear the looks Aly is showing to the gym or exercising, not for a casual outfit just because.

@@nele9045 Thanks! I keep collecting more sweater dresses LOL I think that's going to become my signature look. It's so easy. And comfortable. I just got a beige and black striped one in light weight cotton and it feels so breathable too. I'm a soft classic with a big bust and a short waist so proportionately I'm challenged. The sweater dress is so forgiving to my figure flaws

Thank you, I love your practical advice. I wonder if you'd ever do a video for plus-size women. It can be a challenge to find many 'classic' pieces that work, for example, button-front jackets often pull over the bust and the sleeves don't fit properly.

Aly, I adore your videos and always have. This might be the first time I’m disagreeing with you. I feel like you really came for the Kibbe R’s, especially the plus size Kibbe Romantics. It doesn’t mean you need to change anything, but yeah, these “don’t” categories had a lot of curve accommodation that’s really necessary to not lose the shape esp for a plus size R.
@OlgaRykov4 ай бұрын
Exactly my sentiment. And I'm not a plus sized romantic, I'm a very slim romantic and still I find these recommendations almost completely unacceptable for a romantic. Can't imagine what a plus size must feel.
@SilverGreenEyes184 ай бұрын
I've noticed nowadays a lot of style experts I respect are pushing this modern boxy style and calls anything that is suitable for romantics "dowdy" as if all the Kibbe talk just doesn't matter anymore

hello, Aly. Can you make a video about jewerly for a soft gamine. I have heard that sparkly things distract people from soft gamine lines. It made me a little bit sad cause now I don't think I can wear a lot of types of jewerly cause they are mostly shiny and sparkly, gems are sparkly too. Maybe you have some thoughts on that.

While I get what you mean about the don'ts, and the do's look elegant, pretty much none of them work nicely on curvy or very muscular bodies. At least I haven't found ways to make some of them work, or even fit neatly, to accommodate curve or muscle.

Love this video❤ However, as stylish as it may feel and unless it is vintage, when I see someone wearing real leather it tells me that person not caring about the poor soul that was robbed of life and skin for this. And then elegance goes down the drain. There are SO many gorgeous and compassionate alternatives out there that match someone’s beautiful heart❤❤❤

The alternatives are made of plastic and not good for the environment, at least leather will last a while but it’s also treated with harsh chemicals.
