I think the juvenile loons aren't sure when to migrate. The nesting pair on our lake took off and the baby stuck around well after. Oops, watched a little longer and sounds like all the loons are still there. LOL

I read up on loon behavior and apparently the parents do take off early and the juveniles significantly later.

They were all juveniles on this lake...it was loaded with them.
