Hahahahaha! Loved that ending with the Star Wars nod, great job!👏 Agreed on the Ribbit, love the action and durability. Nice work out there Matt!👊💥🎣

😂🤣👍 I figured that ending was only fitting! I definitely think the Ribbit is my new favorite frog, atleast until I make my own in the Do-It Mold. I'm probably going to go with the Saltwater blend plastic to make it extremely durable. The Kanuble Frog I currently make is good for my spinning rod but is too light for a baitcaster so it does have a big downside. Thanks for watching and commenting bro 👍

Thanks Sean! I was glad too. The day started off good with a quick fish and then no activity for hours lol. I had to throw the Star Wars in there... it was way too good of an opportunity to miss out on lol. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Two sick blowups! At least you landed the one. That wind was crazy. You need to use an anchor. I use one when the wind is that bad and it not only saves my arms and back…but it lets me get more casts in. More casts. More fish. Best extraction team in the biz 😂👍 Can’t wait for your stability test.

🤣😂👍 That 2nd one was absolutely nasty! The day started off well... or so I thought lol. I caught that 1st one like 10 minutes into fishing and then not another strike for hours. The wind is always crazy here! An average day is around 8-9mph winds. I start planning every trip with a check for wind speed and direction. Some days there are places I just can't go, other times the wind shifts from the forecast and chaos follows. I used to carry an anchor in the Kayak all the time but once I learned that it was too light to hold position with it, I started just leaving it behind. Every pound of gear I add to the Kayak seems to have an exponential impact. It's much harder to paddle and drifts alot faster with the added weight. Also, because I can't move around in the kayak, I can't attach the anchor to the bow or stern. Attaching it to the side sets me up for failure taking waves broadside. So now, I just pay careful attention to wind management and use the weed beds as an anchor when possible. Another aspect is that I like to cover more water and anchoring is usually counter productive to that mentality. You are absolutely right, more casts=more fish and hand in hand with that, more water=more fish. I am very fortunate to have such an incredible extraction team 😂🤣👍. Always a great way to end my day no doubt! Since you saw my short video, you already know how the stability test ended lol. The video will have other aspects of the stability test and you will see what really happened 🤔. Thanks for watching and commenting bro!

Ya beat the skunk buddy! Nice job! Do you ever run an anchor with sour bill?
@beardzerofishing
@beardzerofishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks bro! Always great to beat the skunk. I only took a skunk once this year and that was at Buchanan Lake during the Friendliest Catch episode lol. I used to run with an anchor until I found out that it just plain won't hold in even small winds. Now I leave it behind most times to lighten the load. Every pound I add to my gear seems to exponentially increase the difficulty of the day lol. At 9ft 6 Sour Bill is small and the weight adds up very quick. Another reason I don't take the anchor is because of my inability to move around in the Kayak. I can't attach the anchor to the bow or stern and can only attach on the side. This sets me up for disaster if I'm taking waves broadside. This might change significantly once the upgrades are finally completed. Thanks for watching and commenting bro 👍

Absolutely tough out there! The wind had shifted from the forecast and completely changed my fishing plan. Atleast I beat the skunk lol. I only had one skunk all year and that was at Lake Buchanan when I was filming for the Friendliest Catch. 🤣😂👍 I think you may already know how the next video goes! Thanks for watching and for your comment Larry!!!

Let's goooooo!!!! Glad to hear you got one! It has definitely been tough lately, especially in the upper third of the lake and the river. I did a recon mission up the river recently since I did awesome there last year at this time and to see how things are going to be for spring with the white bass run. That video will be coming soon! We will probably run into eachother at some point lol. As always, Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

It seems like the Bass were trying to cooperate with my filming a bit this year. I have had alot of up close and personal strikes that I got on camera lol. I normally make my fishing plan based primarily on wind direction for the day. Some places I just can't go in certain wind direction/ speeds. There are however days like this one... the plan was to use the banks as a shield from the wind but by mid morning the wind was swirling and there was no escaping it! Many times I do use the wind to my advantage as it can help promote a good drift for me down weedlines/Drop offs. Often I start the morning off against the wind while I have full energy and then use it to my favor for the return trip lol. Anchoring is not a practical option for this particular Kayak, so I tend to leave the anchor at home and opt to use the hydrilla beds themselves to hold position when I want... but mostly I like to cast and move to cover more water. Thanks for watching and commenting bro, it's always appreciated!

It's tough out there especially with that wind and current. Sucks that you missed that second fish. All good though. At least you didn't get skunked.

The wind is always tough here with the average wind at 8-9mph. It is definitely amplified by the Kayak itself, so every trip I make, one of the first things I consider is wind speed/direction. After hours of no action, the 2nd strike caught me off guard for sure lol. It was a nasty blowup and I was bummed to have missed it. But as they say, a bad day on the water always beats a good day in the office. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Thanks bro! 🤣😂👍Atleast the 2 blowups I had the whole day were sick ones!!! I was bummed to miss the 2nd one though... that tends to happen alot with the "Danger Close" strikes. When they are right on top of the boat when they hit, the reaction/hookset is much faster and often they don't have it well yet lol. 🤣😂 maybe you should start making bets! Although my recent short video kinda gave it away, it was mostly for comedy and in the full video there is more to my stability test. Thanks for watching and commenting bro 👍

hard to do much in winds like that in a yak. Especially on a lake.
@beardzerofishing
@beardzerofishing Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! We have an average wind of 8-9mph on any given day with winds up to 15mph common lol. All Kayak trips begin with a wind speed and direction check. Normally I plan my days accordingly but sometimes the wind shifts from the forecast and leaves me highly exposed. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

The blowups were awesome. Wind and kayaks is a struggle. Have you ever tried an anchor or park pole to hold you in place?
@beardzerofishing
@beardzerofishing Жыл бұрын
I was glad to have gotten atleast a couple great blowups for the camera lol. It was definitely tough though... the first fish I caught in like 10 minutes of fishing and my next strike was hours later. The Bass are definitely on the move again and not necessarily for the better fishing. The wind here is usually wild... on an average day the wind is 8-9mph. I used to carry an anchor as part of my standard gear but once I learned that the anchor I have just won't hold bottom in any wind at all, I opted to leave it behind. At 9ft 6 my Kayak is very small and I can't move around in it while under way. Attaching the anchor to the bow or stern is impossible and attaching it to the side forces me to take waves broadside while anchored and doesn't make for a great day lol. I have never tried the anchor poles or systems but I think for my Kayak it wouldn't work very well and would likely be more cumbersome than anything. Currently I use the weedbeds to anchor when I can and use the banks for a wind break. Sometimes I get lucky with the area and can use my paddle to grab onto something to hold my position lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!

That is at Rivers Bend. It is a very good location to fish in the late summer and fall. Not so much in the spring or early summer, atleast until the weeds grow back. My advice for fishing in the May/June-ish timeframe is the upper lake near the bridge. After the Bass spawn is over, the fish seem to migrate to the upper lake to actively chase the spawning Shad! Look for balls of swirling bait madness along the shorelines... guaranteed the bass are not far behind! Hope this helps 👍! Thanks for watching and commenting!!!

Another video I missed because of the "shorts" invasion in my feed 😠 Sorry bro! But I'm here now. Those Ribbet frogs are great! I catch snakehead on them and I can usually get 3 of them toothy dudes per frog if not more. I pair them with the double take hooks. HAHA. Your dumbest idea ever huh?
@beardzerofishing
@beardzerofishing Жыл бұрын
🤣😂👍 No worries bro! When you mentioned in a comment on my Googan Toads review video about how you like the Stanley frogs better, I made it a point to pick some up!!! So thank you for putting me on my new favorite topwater frog! Well atleast until I make some in the new Do-It mold. I will make my own special colors and use the Saltwater blend plastic from Dead On Plastix (The toughest blend they make!) Then I may have a more favored frog lol. The Kanuble Frog I currently make is too small to throw effectively on a Baitcaster and does not have the same water displacement as the larger ones. I will have to check out the double take hooks... if you like them, they must be fire!!! 🤣😂 it is absolutely my dumbest idea to date on the channel to do a stability test in late fall. But there was something promising that came from it! Thanks for watching and commenting bro 👍
