My blackberries are primocanes. They fruit late summer/fall on first year canes - and those same canes will fruit again in the spring. I get a headache thinking about pruning. lol Sage's haircut - looks fab!!

@@ceecee-thetransplantedgardener Wow. The pruning isn’t so very bad since these are thornless. The wild ones we have growing everywhere are a whole different thing, though.

As a gardener from the Pacific NW the idea of doing anything at all to increase blackberry vigor is always amusing to me. I have allowed my blackberry invaders a bit too much free reign this year and I need to go out and rip out a bunch of the encroaching sprouts.

@@katrinkarose175 yea they are totally vigorous! Mainly the pruning helps the plant put more energy into producing fruit. If left alone these canes would totally take over!

My blackberry plants are a year old. Not sure how much pruning to do now. Idid not get any fruit this summer. Not sure what to expect. Mine are also thornless.
