Sometimes it's best to not try and reinvent the wheel. A handy smoker is a beekeeper's best friend. You can make due without a lot of tools in beekeeping, but a smoker, never go without.

If you have a bad hive when they're just aggressive imagine what they're doing to the other bees. Take the honey and seal them in and then when you're other nice colonies want to grow and expand you already have a box ready to go. If you can't Cut the grass around them that's just too aggressive. And you actually fear going into the hive, Why cause all this stress on yourself And those crazy bees. Good luck
