501st Journal Week 14 - Tatooine CT-2401 "Blue Star" When I first left Kamino to join the 501st I thought that I'd end up seeing more than just sand. It was quite a change at first, going from a rainy water world to one that's pretty much the exact opposite. Where before it was cold and damp it's now dry and hot, and I'm not sure which is worse, at least back on Kamino you didn't have sand filling your armor all the time. It's course, rough, and gets everywhere. Honestly how do people live like this? Besides the sand there's not much else to look at besides the rocks. The separatists haven't made a move on us yet so there's not been much action either. There's a lot of fighting around us in the neighboring systems but not here. The Captain CT-7567, or "Rex" as he goes by has been keeping us sharp and ready for anything just in case. He's a good trooper from what I've seen and a capable leader too. Being a shiny, I haven't seen how he leads in combat but my gut tells me he knows his stuff, I'm sure I'll find out soon enough. Speaking of leaders, word is that we'll be getting a Jedi general soon that'll take command of the 501st as a whole. A Jedi named Anakin Skywalker. The Captain is already preparing a formal welcome for the general when he arrives, so at least we won't be bored for a few days. I wonder what this Jedi will be like, let's hope he's a good one because we still have a war to win.

"When did ARCs get flamethrowers?" they actually have always had them. they customize their gear the same way mandos do (because they were taught by mandos and given the freedom to do so, unlike commandos). It just has never been shown on screen or in the novels (I believe). The ARCs' Westar rifles even do the converting that the DC-17 does.

37:00 It depends. Commandos are better in small squad tactics, sabotage, assassination, etc. When you get em in say, Geonosis, you get 5000 of them killed. Half of their numbers gone in one battle because the Jedi Generals didn't know how to utilize them well. Now, you put an ARC Trooper in the same situation and they'll thrive. They can also do pretty good covert ops and a good bit of the shit Commando's do, just not as well/efficiently. Yk how it is man, just a different MOS.

Personal Log: Archfield 004 I punched a protocol droid today. I shouldn't have, I know that, but when I heard it speak all I could think of was the B1s that have been surrounding me all this time and I lost it. We just keep losing, no matter where I look the Republic is taking system after system. I don't even know why I keep adding status messages to these logs, I really could just say 'we lost, even when we won we lost the numbers game' over and over. I guess so if we ever start making substantial progress, I can remember the humble beginnings we came from. If there's any consolation, it's that task force "Wildcard" took the Rishi orbital corridor with a relative minimum of casualties (compared to what I have come to expect from tac-map reviews. How has it happened that I am calling the loss of a kriffing providence a surprisingly comprehensive win?) Why can't the Republic just let us be? I don't want to be fighting, I just wanna do my research so I can share it with the whole galaxy. I suppose that the Jedi probably don't want Redeemer to come to fruition, but there isn't much they can do about it right now. Still, I'm taking leave from the flotilla to head to Korriban. I can only hope that I'll be able to find what I need there. If not, then the only option is to hope I can get Command to authorize the capture of a Jedi. All I'll say for now is the good Doctor has her own motivations, and they aren't necessarily fully aligned with the CIS'. While I have a plan for her overall arc and narrative, the goal is to keep the story dynamic based on events in the campaign. That is, if it isn't a steamroll lol.

I always considered doing a 501st character should he do a Clone Wars series and now that he has and finally set up the 501st in the campaign I can finally start. I don't have any real plan for a story like you, I'm just going with what comes. Keep an eye out for the 501st Journal entries if you want to see what I come up with. Might not be as good as yours but hopefully I'll make them fun to read.

@@ambersmith4156 I know what you mean. For me, just knowing one person has read what I wrote makes it worth it. During the last Empire campaign a couple other people and myself started doing these story comments and over time we came together and loosely connected our stories so that by the end we had a pretty decent little story of a group of imperials on Thrawn's ship becoming friends while going through the events of the game. All improvised too, we started to do the same on the Rebel campaign too but since Shack cancelled it we had to scrap it.

I've been doing my own CIS playthrough at almost the same rate. Separatists start out mostly in two big pockets totally cut off from each other; I had to take Kamino and Rishi to unify my forces. The Republic put up a good fight on the ground at Rishi, but had almost totally pilfered the defenses of Kamino to reinforce an attack up north. A shame. The battle of Kamino really should have been a big deal. I also conquered Rothana in a battle involving a very pricey Golan III accomplishing absolutely nothing and some B1 battle droids stealing an AT-TE.

Commandos: Sabotage, Espionage, Assassinations, High Value Target handlers, Ironically a high skill use required teams, handed to a bunch of monks with 0 experience in how to deploy them. Arc troopers: Actually fighting. Skilled but also able to rely on a team more often then not. [9+ generally, but most definitely usually at least 4+, arc trooper or otherwise] -Pardon the expression, but it's easier to use ARC troopers because it's a scapel vs a hammer. Not saying ARC's can't be surgical operatives, or can't preform similar missions- or even the same missions. It's merely a difference in specialization- in a battle 1v1, commando would win because they're more underhanded, in a fair fight, The arc trooper will win because the commandos aren't designed to do fair fights. Mind you, at least they aren't Speeder-Lance Troops, who role in the army seems to be to die fast and tank hunt.

shack, im playing the other side of this campaign. i usualy drop 5 MUTTs at the start. such a wonderfull unit, i think if the devs of the mod were to update it they should probably make the thing more vulnerable while dropping droids... they kill the b1s that come out and i just immidiatly drop more droids in their face. its a wonderfull tactic but i dont think it should work

Personally I prefer Arc Troopers over Commandos. To me Commandos seem almost like unstoppable super soldiers with almost no equal. Arc troopers on the other hand seem to be just normal Clone Troopers that have proved themselves to be better than the rank and file, just more elite/veteran than your average Clones. I find that to be far more appealing personally, as they are not necessarily the best of the best, but they certainly are better. Also Arc Troopers are probably much more common thus making them a more feasible front line force, as opposed to elite infiltrators.

Commandoes are far better in most situations since their basic rifles can even do decent damage to light vehicles and their snipers can wreck any infanty. I just take around a few squads of arcs purely for their vehicle stun ability.

ARC Troopers are better front line troopers, while the commandos are better for stealth and espionage missions. During the first battle of geonosis, commandos had a 50% casualty rate because they were deployed incorrectly as front line troops. However clone commando armor is definitely way better. It's just that they werent trained to be front line troopers.

Capt. Build the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and grab you some squads of Jedi. They'll come in handy. The Admiral on Kuat, Maarisa has a Venator and shes 1000 credits

Arc Trooper or Republic commando is a very tough one, Because I have fun memories of playing Republican commando, But the first time seeing a specialty clone was the Cartoon shorts, And that's when they showed the Ark troopers, the red in the blue ones. I'm not sure I'm right on this, but don't Arc troopers. Have the authority to modify there. Armory anyway, they see fit. I do know the Republic commandos have Shields as well as other gadgets, but so do the arc troopers. I guess for me. I go with the Republic commando just because they're more of a stand and fight. Aggressive, like a tank or a rock and the arc troopers are more like. Skilled surgeon with a scalpel.
