My favourite band! Funny story, this was the first single after their three year hiatus, and they dropped it totally unannounced - literally days before Pete Wentz had been quoted saying they were still broken up - and then three days later, boom, album announced, single drop, tour date announcements. The most adrenaline I've ever woken up to in my life.

I remember this day incredibly clear. Such an amazing moment of having the mindset of "Man I wish FOB was back" then BOOM they drop this. Absolutely amazing.

The video is actually a part of whole series of music videos. Oh boy, not only part two...whole album. They made videos to the whole Save Rock and Roll album. All of them are connected and make pretty interesting story with like actual plot. Music videos are amazing and songs are even better. You should check out the rest :D The second part is The Phonix if I remember correctly~

I'm kinda disappointed you didn't talk about the line "My childhood spat back out the monster that you see." One of Fall Out Boy's greatest lines, and the singer actually doesn't write the lyrics, their bassist does!

I believe it was their “f u” to the “fans” that were telling them what type of band that they are/should be. The line about seeing the scars that are going to happen, being the response they were going to get.

Seriously, Patrick Stump is one of the greatest singers and talents of our generation, hands-down, and I remember actually crying when this video dropped, and the band returned after 4 years. It was magical! ❤

so as @M and @sweeeetkraft mentioned here in the comments, this is the first part of the Youngblood chronicles (so all the votes on the spread sheet for young blood chronicles are for this series), an 11-part story from their album save rock and roll (their best album if i do say so myself) where each song has a correlating music video. the album is bloody amazing and videography is so dope in all of them. you def need to watch the whole thing, it's just 45 mins total. you wont regret the time spent)) so correct order for the music videos is: 1 "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" 2 "The Phoenix" 3 "Young Volcanoes" 4 "Alone Together" 5 "The Mighty Fall" 6 "Just One Yesterday" 7 "Where Did the Party Go" 8 "Death Valley" 9 "Rat a Tat" 10 "Miss Missing You" 11 "Save Rock and Roll" although narratively my songs know what you did in the dark comes 4, after alone together you can watch them all separately or as a whole movie that was put together by fall out boy (Fall Out Boy - The Young Blood Chronicles (Uncut Longform Video) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIvciKuYpM-Mfpo)

love this band!! I’d recommend checking out the other parts of this series, the whole album is visual. pete wentz (bassist) writes the band’s lyrics which are kinda complex and straight up weird sometimes but I love it, and patrick stump the vocalist/the one who writes the melody and music is just so talented!

5:16 basically, this video is just 1 part of a whole "movie" of 11 music videos, watch them all and you understand. I think this song is kind of saying "hey, we are back, and we leave everything we used to be behind and start new". hence why everything is destroyed. Highly recommended music videos though, they are called the Youngblood Chronicles. the epic finale even has Elton John as a literal god.

FOB put out a ~48min video with all MV's from this album in order to tell the full story - but they are listed as (Part X) if you look them up separately. They also did a hilarious reaction/behind the scenes of the full saga with anecdotes about filming the whole thing with Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz, it's really funny and cool to get an insider scoop on how they did some of it!

this entire album is great - not a single bad song on it! the all the music videos are dope, gotta watch them in the right order though if you want to avoid confusion - they are all part of a big narrative. love all your content dude, great work.
@RedJLP2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, the point of the video was to say “We’ve taken a break and now we’re back”. As such, they imagined it’d be superseded by one connected by more than just fire. But then Pete and/or Patrick asked “Wait, who’s in the van and why?” The answer was the Youngblood Chronicles with one 3+ minute chapter per song in the entire album, not just the big singles

I think their iconic older songs would make for great reactions, their music videos tend to be kinda funny, Thanks For The Memories (which includes chimpanzees and a young Kim Kardashian), This Ain't a Scene and I Don't Care are some of the best (and What a Catch Donnie is sad but it's a great song, but I wouldn't watch that video without watching the others first, since part of the fun of it is picking the other videos references).
