I live in Manchester. There was one store that had everything under £3 but it closed. Charity stores here and in other UK cities just have a load of junk in them. The thrift stores are too expensive :(

I love going to the thrift store for Christmas decorations! You can find some really nice stuff in good condition, since it's only ever used for like a month each year. My boyfriend and I are in our 20's and our apartment is literally a winter wonderland come Christmas time. It's awesome.

ALSO! We found tons of cool old glasses, like the ones you could get from McDonalds back in the day, with Smurfs or Care Bears all over them. AND probably 75% of my Stephen King books are from the thrift store. I LOVE THE THRIFT STORE!!!

If you don't want to try on the shoes, odd but true, your foot is the same length as your forearm. The crease of your elbow to the wrist crease. If I'm rushed or don't have socks I'll place the shoe on my forearm to see if it will fit. The only issue I've run across is with the width of my foot; you need to know if you are, narrow, medium, etc.

I am a HUGE fan of thrifting, my daughter and I go all the time, and have some good laughs, and find some really awesome things. And being a stay at home mom with one tiny budget in the house for clothing its a great resource to also shop at and find some awesome things. Loved the boots, and the "future" top can't wait to see what you do with it!

Silver skirt is my fav! I'd take it apart, wash/dry/press it and re-purpose it as a table runner/table scarf type item for the upcoming holiday season. Might even use it on the makeup table as a table skirt (I'd leave the hem in for that one)

you can always buy the smae fabric that the skirt is made of for these DIYs! they sound so cute! the fabric is lamé and is available on the bolt at most fabric/craft stores! :)

The only thing I'm a bit confused with her about is she is a self proclaimed germaphobe, yet she loves old and obviously germ infested things like old dolls that look like they've been through a lot, even this blue book she got, who knows what's on it. I never even thought of that. But maybe she's more worried about skin to skin germs and that's why she's okay with furniture. But i don't see how she would be okay handling and wearing clothes that are old, from a thrift shop, and clearly worn a lot. Some people think they have different conditions (like being a germaphobe) but they don't actually have them. I really don't know though :/

My Spanish teacher was crazy about germs (seriously, she had her own garbage can and tissue box that none of the students could use) and she could still touch dirty things as long as she washed or sanitized her hands soon afterwards.

Be careful with books, put them in freezer bags and freeze them over night, just in case for bed bugs....where I live we had a big bed bug problem and they were found in library books. We are suggested to buy them or take them out and leave the store with them in the bag an freeze them right away to kill the bugs

i'm scared of germs making me sick (ie- things that would come into contact with my face/eyes/mouth where most germs & illnesses are contracted), i'm ok with touching old/dirty stuff because its only on my hands. i also carry around a HUGE bottle of sanitizer with me when i go thrifting & double wash all the clothes/have them dry cleaned after i buy them! :)

I am IN LOVE with that Think of Me teacup. Not just for Phantom reasons, but because it's gorgeous. I wish we had better thrift places in Miami, but everything is expensive. The Midwest seems to be where it's at.
