Gabrielle Chanel always wanted women to feel comfortable, to be bold, in an era of stilettos and high pumps... using flats, or pirate boots, like in the fall winter 2020 show, is actually quite rebelious.

I think, one of many great things about Lagerfeld's work in Chanel is the tweed!! I have been fascinated with many new look of the tweed, and yes the silhouettes of the whole collection is rather the same, but the tweed always in different colors, different texture, different material and I think Karl is very aware of that because Chanel was famous for it. I always wait for the tweed section in each of Chanel collection, just superb.

I love the way the cameras are positioned. It is so much more eye-pleasing in comparison to several years ago! Great job!! I also love that you started to put the word "the" to your Video. "The Fall-Winter ..." sounds so much more inviting and rounded. It makes the title whole! :) And I like it a lot that this season seems so have something very convincing. I personally believe that Phoebe Philo would also make a perfect fit for the brand. The way she revived Céline (and Chloé before that)... She knows exactly what women want, she knows how to make them feel strong, confident and powerful, yet comfortable and feminine at the same time. She strikes the balance between designing it-bags that everybody wants (and let's not forget that shoes, leather goods and accessories make up the biggest part of high-fashion brands' revenues) and making beautiful, inspired clothes just perfectly. Her collections are always really strong, focused and meaningful, but in a very poetic and subtle sort of way. Karl himself has expressed his admiration for Phoebe on a few occasions and she's very respected in the fashion world. Besides, maybe it's just me, but wouldn't a woman at the helm of Chanel feel really right for the current times? After all, Chanel is a fashion house founded by the most iconic woman in the history of fashion, the one who liberated women from the stiff dress codes of the XIX century and gave them a new silhouette appropriate for the changing lifestyles and social codes. Karl has done a tremendous job reviving Chanel from the years of stagnation, but there are only so many collections you can do and stay innovative/at the top of your game. Phoebe would bring a breath of fresh air to Chanel, and the fact that she's just left Céline to take some time off only leaves me hopeful that she'll take over when both she and Karl are ready.

Have you ever thought about pursuing a career in fashion journalism? I think you picked out all the right arguments regarding Philo's talent and empathy for a modern, sophisticated customer. I especially like what you said about a female head at Chanel with respect to our times, which are truly and above all about female-empowerment. I personally hope Phoebe Philo will commit herself to Burberry, as rumor has it. Burberry certainly needs a strong, poised lead after Christopher Bailey's rather experimental, often messy designs of past collections. But that's an entirely different debate.
