Thank you! Hopefully I get them all planted. My plans are usually much bigger than what actually happens, lol. I am sure others are the same.

Christa, isn't it great that the big box stores are realizing that gardeners want seeds this early? Great flower garden you are going to have this year. Can't wait to see it. Columbines can be difficult to germinate. Glad that some did work out for you. You are going to have a beautiful flower garden with all those great seeds. Have a great week! Catherine

Thank you! Yeah this is the earliest I have seen seeds available in my area. Usually, it's the end of January. The Home Depot also has seeds now. If you have any advice for germinating columbines, I would love to hear your opinion. I am not sure if I am going to winter sow the packet that I have or try something else.
@myhillsidegarden39986 жыл бұрын
@@ChristasGarden I would try winter sowing. I think they need the cold to get going, but I also think they have a super long germination window. I have tried several times to grow them from seed, and like what happened to you, I thought they hadn't fired and in the fall, there they are in the winter sowing container I used.

Wow, that's crazy. I had more containers planted but must have dumped them out. This time I will just set them all aside in the shade.

Hi Lucas, how have you been? Are you surviving winter okay?

@@ChristasGarden Pretty good, yourself? Yeah, winter stinks but it will be over soon haha. We haven't been getting much snow this year, unfortunately. Cheers.

In a way the break from gardening is nice sometimes, it helps keep me from getting burned out. Plus it's fun to have something to look forward to. We are getting snow tonight, 5 to 7 inches...which is A LOT where I live.
@lucasgrowsbestyt6 жыл бұрын
@@ChristasGarden You are definitely right. 5-7 inches in Ohio? Woah, more than us Ontarians hahaha. Have a nice day :)

Cosmos grows too thick a stalk for me bc my gardens full of coffee grounds =nitrogen. I hear the Blue Jays:-). I feed them whole peanuts. I want French Hollyhocks. I love Calendula. They volunteer. I have those French “bicolored” Marigolds. I wasn’t impressed with mine. I can’t wait for you to start the melons🍉
@ChristasGarden6 жыл бұрын
Hi Portia. Thanks for commenting. I grew Zebrina French Hollyhock last year. They bloomed the first year! Definitely easier for me to grow than regular hollyhocks. Blue Jays are one of my favorites.

@@ChristasGarden I watch Lesley the Bird Nerd, she's excellent with the Blue Jays. She's loaned/sold some footage to Hollywood folks. I started Hollyhocks in my basement when I first started gardening. They did well. They did so well that they brought they're typical rust:-( I moved one down near the the trash bc I was so tired of the rust. It comes up really tall every year. It still gets rust, but it is away from all the others, mostly.

Hi! Happy new year! Sweet collection, when do you start planting or growing? As far as early spring?
@ChristasGarden6 жыл бұрын
Growing outdoors with no protection? Usually sometime in March I can plant cool weather crops outside. Warm weather stuff like tomatoes, can be plant outside in early May. What about you? I am always curious about other locations as well. A lot of people assume that everyone in zone 6 has the same weather, same for zone 5,7, etc, but it isn't true. USDA hardiness zones are only indicators of lowest annual winter temperature, not the length of growing season, warmth of summers, etc. Are you going to try watermelons again this year?
@LforMinerva6 жыл бұрын
I can't wait to see all your flowers. :D Are you gonna start all of these or a select few? I never have luck with them. I'm the same with my china asters, but my calendula don't grow either. :/

What is your favorite flower to grow? Do you grow zinnias? Imo, they are about the easiest flower to grow and they are sooo pretty.
@LforMinerva6 жыл бұрын
@@ChristasGarden Oh yea I really love candy cane zinnias and violet zinnias they were the two i grew last year. They definitely came up easy. Im gonna try a few more varieties this year and take sometime to learn about them. :]
