realistically, falling from a lethal height into water wouldn't save you like how it does in the games. you would most likely break something upon impact with the water. the only way you could safely fall into the water from a lethal height is if you put your body into a form that you could safely plunge into the water, like how lara croft does in shadow of the tomb raider.

In my opinion these are the realistic ones. 0:00 Mirror's Edge Catalyst: Has a long animation, Not just looping a short one. And Faith could be heard panicking 1:48 Watch Dogs: Has a kind of good animation. The wind also reactes with clothing and assembled from multiple segments. (Actually the player cheated to get that high, the last bit of animation where Aiden tries to kind of cover his face would be a just before impact animation which starts when Aiden is about to hit the ground.) 2:57 Shadow of the Tomb Raider: We did not see a fatality here. But the way Lara just transitions to a different animation just before hitting the water of very good. Also the falling animation is very detailed.

Dying Light's falling animation is decent enough, Crane flails his arms a bit before absolutely getting pulverized by gravity. Sleeping Dogs' falling animation go bouncy boingy, but still does its job of being a good falling animation even if Wei Shen (go look it up that's his name) doesn't bounce like a bouncy ball. But the Mirror's Edge one. That one's quality. Faith panicking and then passing out, does feel really immersive. In a "damn my fear of heights only gets worse playing this but its still really good" sort of way.

I don’t really think you could call the falling movements in Rockstar games “animations”. Since it’s driven by the euphoria engine, it’s more like physically-based calculations that predict how the character falls, not a hand-crafted animation. Same goes for any game switching to ragdoll upon descent.

Mirror's Edge one is the most realistic for one simple factor: all of the others are intense screaming or intense silence. In the ME one you feel the panic through Faith eyes as she hyperventilates and start to lose consciousness due to eminent death. There's no scream, no curse words, only panic and pure fear. The most realistic one for sure.

I remember I used to always let Rico Rodriguez fall enormous heights on purpose just bc I knew he wouldn't die and my dad would walk by saying "that's so stupid, how did he survive that" 😅
