Good to see fallkniven are responding to what customers want. I've always liked fallkniven blades but I've always been put off by the old wrap around rubber handles. These seem to answer all my concerns. It would be pretty easy to make some new scales out of whatever material you like. And the new locking sheath looks a big improvement over the straps on the old sheaths. I wish more knife makers would listen to what customers want.

Fallkniven make knives with a fully wrapped grip so that your hand doesn’t stick to the steel in cold conditions. It’s a feature of being a Swedish design. It’s actually far superior than slapping scales on the side. Knife fashion is exactly that fashion. Still looks a lovely knife though...

Just a friendly clarification; Cobalt Special (CoS) is an ingot steel (not powder steel).

Just got the A1XB. Spectacular knife. I can rely my life on that one. I think you can grab a Morakniv Garberg instead of the S or F from Fallkniven. I carry the A1XB for heavy-duty and the Mora Garber in Cross sheath for fine tasks, I switched this one with the Mora 2000 and it's more than enough to do everything. Neither knife had failed me EVER. Very good quality

Is it me or does the s1 have a wider more aesthetic blade than the a1 , a1 seems to have a strange shape it is longer but the blade seems too narrow at the beginning

400 grams...my goodness, that is heavy. Love my standard A1, up here in the cold that wrap around handle is pure gold.

Unecessarily heavy and thicker than it needs to be. I really like regular A1 and wouldn't replace it.

I don't understand why they chose to make them thicker either. I've had my A1 for years and I never thought "man, I wish it was even thicker than it is now". I doubt I could break it even if I shot the thing.

Nice looking knives, but imagine holding those knives without gloves when it is freezing cold! Anyway, curios about the steel, if it is less brittle than VG10, which IMO is prone to chipping.

None of my knives ever chipped I have no glue how ppl do that 😅

@@royalhclub881 My F1 blade in VG-10 chipped pretty badly from doing some simple work with it.

But the same could be said for the majority of fixed blades. Plus we don't all live in sub zero climates. I think it is better to have a knife that is usable for 95% of the time. When/if it is freezing then it's easy to just wear gloves. So to have that option of taking the scales off to clean it properly and to also be able to make your own scales IMO outweighs the disadvantages it has in cold weather. Plus for those where the cold is a real issue the original wrap around handles are still available. This just seems to now cater for both markets and I think fallkniven are onto a winner with this X series.

60 to 61 rockwell the xb series has 85 rockwell coating on it.

I for the life of me don't understand why anyone would choose a knife this expensive. I'm old school I was raised using my tools. Something that expensive I'd be afraid I'd lose it. A good fixed blade shouldn't cost more the a $150 with sheath. Really it's a blank that's been heat treated and sanded on machines. Everything else is marketing and branding. Making a knife isn't rocket science. Regardless of what the internet tells people. Prices are getting ridiculous.
