It is The best knife for hikers and camping that you can have….Its perfomance in wood and animals is incredible without losing its edge….ideal weight and size and very strong 5mm blade for general use and 3G steel incredible edge retention…the knife is also ideal for CQB if you have adequate skills and training

I know this review was five years ago, but I’m just now watching it as I’m considering buying one of these knives. This was a very good review and I appreciated it very much:) I had a chance to get one of these years ago but I passed up on it, because the one I was looking at did not have the bolster/finger guard. That might’ve been something they changed over the years, not to mention I thought at the time, that a 5 inch blade was a little bit too long for a hunting knife. However after having many hunting knives, with some longer than others, 5 inches is not that much more than what I consider ideal length and I find that the longer bladed knives still work well and have many uses for a hunter! I have many Fallkniven knives, And in my opinion they are the best factory knives in the world. They have exceptional build quality and are always very sharp. They function well and these people at this company know what the hell they’re doing with Knives! They are a little on the expensive side, but from what I’ve seen they’re well worth it.

Fallkniven definitely makes some of the finest production knives. PHK is on the thicker side compared to most hunting knives and the steel takes awhile to sharpen, if you get past those two factors, the PHK is an awesome, robust knife.

@@Gasanwu Thank you for the reply and the information. I don’t sharpen my own Knives unfortunately, i’m just not very confident in my ability. However that is good information to know. I do think it might be good on the thicker side in some ways especially processing a deer or getting out a deer, you come across a lot of bone etc. Sure looks like a really nice knife! I think I’m gonna get one and try it :-)

@@Gasanwu How did the knife do on gutting and skinning game?
@Gasanwu2 жыл бұрын
@@wesleyhobbs9 gutting is perfect due to the wave like shape of the tip. Skinning is very good as well but not the best I've used. A thinner blade is much better at skinning in general. PHK is good at processing the meat i.e. extract loin / back straps etc.

@@Gasanwu What do you think of the Fallkniven r2 scout knife? It has the Elmax steel And a thicker blade. I do not have this knife yet, I would like to get it but it’s always sold out. I’m just curious what you think of it. I know it’s not really a hunting design but I think it would work for that along with other things

see i like the overall shape of this knife as i do deer hunt in the fall just not sure of the handle and i wounder how the 3g would hold up to deer bones ?
@Gasanwu7 жыл бұрын
My only other experience with 3G which has a SG2 core is with a 9" miyabi kitchen knife (slicer) that is much thinner and has lower edge angles on both sides. And the edge retention is amazing even when regularly making contact with bone, I would expect the much thicker edge of the PHK to fair equal if not better. Again, I will have report back after I've actually hunted with it.

I've been wanting to get this knife for a while. But damn the Pro series are $$$! lol And I went back to school to retrain last year, so maybe in a few years I'll grab it. But I got that lions steel, great for feild dressing deer. Very controllable. And I just ordered a BR Bravo 1.25 the other day for a great deal. Great vid.
@Gasanwu6 жыл бұрын
Bravo 1.25 if in 3V is excellent, takes an awesome edge. The PHK doesn't take as good of an edge, but it maintains a usable edge for a very very long time.

Have you used it???
@Gasanwu3 жыл бұрын
Sure did, skinned/processed a couple of black bears with it. Just didn't get around to do another video on it. Also had the Spyderco Proficient with me, the thinner blade of the Proficient makes skinning much easier compared to the PHK with its very thick blade stock.

@@Gasanwu Thanks for replying back. I really like fallknivens, but they are pretty thick. Not too many vids out there foe the phk
