Honestly, I haven't really wanted a knife from this brand until now. This one...I'm getting that "must have" feeling. This is one capable compact tool, and I love the steel. I imagine I could feel prepared with this on my waist, no matter where I go. Thanks so much for showing it to us.

Elmax is a top notch steel produced by Uddeholms AB in Sweden! They have been producing high quality steel for over 350 years at almost the same location in Hagfors.

Great video thank you. I just ordered one here in the states. UPDATE: Receive my knife and the quality is epic. I wish the blade was a quarter inch longer though.

Good review... for me a 3mm | 1/8" width on the blade would of been optimal? Thanks for sharing :)

For those who prefer a leather sheath, I find the F1 flap sheath works very well. I find the F1 a little long for the flap sheath and have it in a Casstrom No. 10 sheath, an economical and high quality alternative.

As a Swede i love Moras and like Fällkniven. My favourite is the WM1, had it for 15 years and it punches way above it's weight. This looks like too much tank for me👍

:-) I am no Swede, had WM1 for couple years. Had changed the sheath for the custom one and than, my good friend had come to love with this knife (and as a knife collector) I gave it to him. This one in review has really thick blade, And I love thick blades, but this is ... Have F1, and had S1 and mentioned WM1. All are very good knives, but mora 511 in carbon for let us say 10 € with postage is the best. Not for collecting, but for work with.

Doesn't Fällkniven have the knives produced in Japan? The knife looks cool, definitely like Elmax, has worked well for me, I just wish the handle was a bit longer and the spine ~1mm thinner. But, as you said, as a bushcrafter it should perform well. Just not so great for food prep. Thanks for the review, appreciated, as always!

Some of them are. I have a basic S1 in the laminated VG10 and it was made in Japan. The better steels, I think... are made in Sweden.

There's that ridiculously thick tang again. Can we go back to normal thickness now? Maybe 0.13-0.15

Well you won't break that blade battoning

I’ve noticed a lot of fixed blade knife companies make a “scout” model, what exactly does that mean? I’ve noticed it’s always a smaller thinner version of a knife….like the scout version always seems to mean light weight light duty or shorter blade?????
@espenss3 ай бұрын
(Old post, but:) "Scout" is, IMHO, a way to say "children", without saying it - think boy scouts/guides.

Is it just me or the grind is uneven? Logo side grind looks to be higher. Looking down from the spine towards the tip you can see left and right convex starts at different points. Maybe purposely designed cutting geometry?
@andrease.13452 жыл бұрын
the higher grind side is for better feathersticking i think
@KNRWNW2 жыл бұрын
I got an R2 some days ago an my grind is also not symmetrical. The logo side ist a bit higher on the tip too. If you look form above it looks like the one in the video.

I think this is for someone who wants a serious survival knife that is easy to carry at all times. Its sized for edc, but the user will never feel like they don't have enough tool for the job. I like the idea of feeling prepared no matter what, but it is perhaps a tad excessive. they definitely designed it purposefully. The Izula has a simple carbon build with tough handle material and a rugged blade coating, but folks swear by it as an edc. I could see this fitting into that slot. does that make any sense, or is it just a silly thickness for no good reason?
@TheSpoovy2 жыл бұрын
I fear it's just driven by fashion, for a lot of knife buyers now thicker means better.

Strength. Toughness. Durability.

The locking mechanism on the sheath is poorly designed. It crashes into the soft plastic of the knife.

Their website says it’s for people with smaller hands.
@etherealicer3 жыл бұрын
Like me, probably. Although I would rather say I have a narrow hand with long fingers. That said, I'm usually torn between the F1 and the WM1 (the latter usually wins out, just because it is so small). Really looking forward to the R2.

Fallkniven ... not Fallen ! Main grind on the tip in this knife for that price is some joke ... so uneven ... in Poland is ~200 euro ... Thickness to open the tank but very hard steel ... this is some real madness ... or stupidity ... And the main grind is not full flat but 3/5 of the blade ... it is not a knife it's an axe ...
