At 4:26 while everyone is distracted looking at Quest while Shin asks him a question, his hands dip below the table and he switches decks.

The part where Quest has the 6 of spades card in his pocket ruins the whole trick. Now I know the whole magic was just rigged and actually felt it was much more of a trick than magic.
@nawra7721 күн бұрын
yeah, that part kills it. especially since quest is a bad actor.

@nawra77 No idea why they didn't think this through.

His cardestry is still amazing but man lame ending with the 6
@brankin42121 күн бұрын
I wouldn't say it ruined the whole trick. The skill involved is still incredible, even if the ending fell flat.

I'm snooty about magic tricks and I tend to roughly know how a lot of them work (I read a lot of magic theory and have designed a few and sold them). But then there are some magicians that can make that part of my brain just shut up and enjoy the show. Shin is Chief among them. His cardistry and mechanics are just so beautifully done that I get to just enjoy it again. Then again sometimes he just blows my mind so much I just yell at the screen "F-U Shin Lim" But I do so with a giant smile on my face and I can't wait to show it to a thousand other people

A deck has 52 card (or 54 with 2 jokers). How was he able to do the 1-10 deal when that requires 55 cards?
@kenghao835621 күн бұрын
There’s another Bicycle ads card, look closely the last deck
@billygrapes21 күн бұрын
After dropping some cards during the laser dealing, it would be impossible to have 55 cards. At 4:24 he swaps the decks off camera, notice his hands go off the table

3:59 zoom in at .25x speed you can see he never puts the cards down onto the top of the pile, he keeps them in his hand then he slides the discarded cards from his hand into is lap
@lappe76721 күн бұрын
Also cut between 4:24 and 4:25, his left hand was down then higher up and the new angle you cannot see his right hand or the deck of cards, so probably did a switch there.
@toxikwastedump21 күн бұрын
It's called a "laser deal" created by Lennart Green and it's a very well known method.

@@lappe767 Definitely! Good catch. And after they cut back to him he isn't actually shuffling, and then has Jimmie just push them back into a pile (w/o changing order of any).
@lappe76721 күн бұрын
@@ltmesq Plus that other cut to Questlove stays on him for 10 seconds so who knows what's happening at the card table. Still a great trick tho, I just always get annoyed when they cut away so many times and don't keep the shot on the magician lol.

Deck swap under the table, followed by a fake riffle shuffle. “Smush them together”😂 Shin Lim would have needed a second deck since ten piles equals 55 cards.

Really was a demonstration of unbelievable skill like Shin said in the beginning. It's a pity Fallon is a total noob at this though, took away from the rizz of the trick.
