@289rory3 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethgrace2547 Yeah, but we are moving towards that, but we aren’t there. We can acknowledge our differences and celebrate them. Only reason you see it as negative is because it’s sexuality and race. If you were talking about personality traits, it’d be no big deal. “Oh I love my friend Marcus because he’s really optimistic, and it allows me to lighten up.” That’s not bad, but once you say “I love the fact that I have friends of (race or ethnicity) because it allows me to look into that world and change what I’m doing,” people clam up. It’s literally the same, but the problem is only people with this mindset will put negative connotations on it.
@grantdowling85503 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethgrace2547 You're right. But the fact is, the world isn't better and it's literally a necessary survival tactic for non-whites to think about their race in order to always be prepared for any dangers that might come due to society's constructs and stereotypes of race. A world where we wouldn't have to think about race is more thoroughly a world where the idea of race and its consequences no longer exist and we all understand we are in fact the same race. But that's not where we're at at all. As long as racism and its violence exist, so will the need for non-whites to be constantly aware of their assigned "race" in order to be able to protect themselves from any racism that may come their way.

@SnapTea You’re right. I forgot about that. He’s how old though? 22. So most of that ridiculous behavior was done in his teens. I wouldnt want anyone holding me to the things I did as a teen, especially when I was feeling hurt. As they say, hurt people, hurt people. He is a little older and I’m inclined to believe he has “grown up” until he proves otherwise.
