@Rob Moss American media hates that with certain people. Those traits are okay for some and not for others. She's female and black. How dare she have her own opinion and speak it with confidence!
@GenXsinglefree5 жыл бұрын
@Rob Moss Yes, there are many layers to discrimination. Globally, poverty is openly seen but not heard. Every country treats the poor like vermin. One obvious issue is housing. Right here in the good ole USA, people are priced out of housing. Low wage earners can only rent and much of that property is now being bought up and turned into 'luxury' apartments, condos and townhouses as well as gated communities and commercial dwellings. The few developers who want to build low income houses are legally stifled. Over and over, the courts rule against their efforts to buy property to build affordable housing. We know such housing is needed, but no one wants those properties near them. Far is near in their minds. Additionally, owners (corporations, churches and colleges included) of low income dwellings receive federal funding and yet are allowed to keep the places only livable. We know livable is subjective. Rich people dictating what's livable for the poor is absolutely ridiculously. Since the poor are vermin, any condition is livable.

I love that there is still that playful/naughty side to Grace while she's (pardon the pun) gracefully aging and is lending an undeniable laissez-faire attitude to her life and work. If you read her autobiography, you'll know that many of her early antics were, shall we say, chemically enhanced. Here she seems relaxed, grateful, reflective and most importantly genuinely happy. I wish I lived near a big city to see this new docu on the Big Screen, but I'm seeing a flight-to-major-city-long-weekend in my future. Having said that, you can tell Fallon has NO idea what to say, what questions to ask. The Nile Rodgers story is common knowledge. But I'm pretty sure if I had Grace on my sofa I'd also be all like "ummm....ummmm.....ummm."
@irisburrows52975 жыл бұрын
I agree with you about seeing the improvement of her easy way of life. Its inspiring. Makes you want to grasp that attitude right now and skip that downward spiral, drug abusive antics part that people choose in life. But the niles story, it was new to me. Though, I haven't read any Grace Jones autobiographies, or relavant news to know that. When I was younger, people would always tell me I reminded them of her. And I couldn't see it and hated the comparison. I just didn't get it. She's amazing

In the early 80's she gave three ferocious shows over three nights at The Limelight nightclub in Montreal. I remember hearing on the radio being interviewed and speaking perfect French. Well, I went to every show and on the afternoon of the third show I was walking up Mountain going home from work and literally bumped into her. She turned, and said, "Hello, I saw you last night at the front of the stage didn't I?" "Yes," I said, "and you were incredible". "How sweet you are," she said, with that brilliant smile. Then, in all seriousness she leaned towards me and said, "Where can I get a fucking espresso?"

She looks immortal. I listened to her music when I was 8 or 9 or something, in the 80s, but I had her cassette tape. Listened to it over and over and over. She’s a fabulous woman, tremendous actress as well as a singer song writer. Lots a talent. Love Grace Jones.

Grace had some great disco hits in the 70's (I Need A Man/Do Or Die/That's The Trouble/Sorry/Pride/Fame), she also has worked with Eartha Kitt and Eddie Murphy. I think it's just Grace is too much for some to handle like Eartha was 😚both lovely ladies though

Respect to goddess grace ...she never had surgery to change her facial features and straighten her nose like Janet and even Patti label .....I do admit that sometimes it does look nicer like In Beyoncé ‘s case ...but it is sad that we can’t seem to want to embrace our blackness. She may have had her boobs done but after childbirth it is mostly corrective so it doesn’t really count.
