She told him to "get the fuck out" and began trying to physically remove him from the room! lol You can't see it, of course, but you can hear the tussle. Patti tells in her book "Just Kids" that she didn't dream of becoming a rock-star, she just wanted to be a poet and a writer. When Bob Dylan saw her perform live, he encouraged her to continue in music. Decades later, Bob Dylan would become the first musician to win a Nobel Prize for Literature, he couldn't come to collect it, so he appointed his friend, Patti Smith, to go in his name.

I HIGHLY recommend checking out Patti Smith's Substack. It's casual like she's chatting with friends; sometimes from home, sometimes from the road. Videos, stories, photos, writings, readings, show-n-tell, old works, new projects, book talk (what's she's reading, what she's writing, books, art, and artists that were important to her throughout her life... and most often just checking in at the end of her day before retiring for the night.

such a beautiful artist in every activity she does I love her so much and go to ever live show I can, the last time was a full concert including Horses LP in its entirety with lovely poems and stories between songs... I watch the other Jimmy (Kimmel) much more fun

Jimmy is right, she toured with Mr. Dylan and a Great tour that was! She even shot me the sneering look of Oyy one night in Philly and if you have to get "that" look from anyone, who better than Patti Smith! And I'm glad she changed her mind about poets because she performed some of her spoken word that night. Just Sublime! Ps. No, I wasn't doing anything creepy or wrong to get the look. More of what I didn't do. Pss. Also thanks to her, some very important art work in Italy was saved from being ruined forever to fade away!! Then sometime after folks around the world cried tears of joy and strength for and to her that day she sang a song for that friend of her's. God Bless that woman!

It's about time Patti got a little mainstream airtime! Her impact is incomparable and sadly artistry will never reach that level again as music becomes less and less meaningful

Sadly nowadays the music deemed underrated is the most selled. Patti is one of those niche artists like PJ Harvey.
