I remember hearing this theme during Old World Blues. Up until this point i'd been listening to the Blues music from the Mysterious Broadcast, the overall goofyness, the wacky themes of crazy science, but the further I got into the DLC it became apparent that the situation was not as straightforward as I assumed. Something felt "wrong" about who I was helping. When I realised it, i'd turned the radio off and this theme started playing, showing how my assumptions had been correct. It remains one of my more enjoyable gaming experiences and why i'll forever love Fallout: New Vegas thanks to the atmospheric music from Fallout 1.

Well Spotted! I did not appreciate the creative effort of this game in the 90s, and the limits of technology at the time made it hard to convey the grit of the atmosphere. Can you imagine what it would be like to emerge from isolation into an entire world that had been devastated and yet to recover? To stumble on what used to be an idyllic country town that had barely survived, but somehow pieced together enough to make it through without support? Whoever is making the additional versions of the fallout franchise certainly cant.

To be honest, I feel Dead Money used this masterfully. It was what I heard most of the time I was in the Suite area where Vera Keyes had died and her hologram called out to Sinclair; a fair approximation of a Pre-War ghost crying out in fear and horror as the world ends around her. As I stalked through the Sierra Madre, New Vegas did its best to have me _feel_ where I was. And where it was, indeed? Just another place ravaged by radiation? No, nothing so common. This was somewhere frozen in time, yet decayed and made a death trap by the march of time. I happen to have a constant sense of paranoia, and it only takes a bit to get my anxiety worked up. A noise in the dark when no one but me is home, some shouts from outside.. the right track where all I hear is a flute exacerbated by a feeling of a dusty, decrepit villa. A villa inhabited by the shambling forms of its former inhabitants and the hauntingly silent, bright forms of its holograms. The sound of the Old World warning you to stay as far from it as possible; your salvation, your answers are _not_ lying in wait for you here. The vice and corruption of a bygone age.. this is no way to live. But, as we all know well by now. _Getting in, experiencing the Old World, even just once? That's not the hard part._ *_It's letting go._*

The Executive Suites legitimately unsettles me everytime I play because you're hunted by these holograms in the likeness of a woman who's been dead for 210 years, and they repeat her terrified dying pleas. Laura Bailey did a stunning job voicing the fear and despair of Vera Keyes. The holograms have been repeating these voicelines for centuries. There's no meaning behind it, just the Casino's advanced computers who recorded her whimpers and repeat it. *Forever*

That classic musical trill. Is it wind? Who knows, it's iconic.
@widepootis Жыл бұрын
I feel something different every time I listen to this track. This time, it sounds hopeful, kind of like the wind engulfs the whole wasteland and offers no hope, but Shady Sands (foreshadowing the NCR) is immune to that, however small, it feels like a haven that is on the bring of collapsing but doesn't, it should fail because it's safe and offers peace to wanderers but it doesn't fail, and that's why you can hear the wind as it doesn't enter its gates, but it soon will.

Returning to Fallout 1/NV soundtrack is always a reminder that some things can't be remastered or returned because it simply not profitable for Bethesda or Microsoft

i still say, from a tone standpoint, Fallout 1 is my favorite, you really do feel that the world is broken and nothing anyone can do will put it back together, Fallout 3 kinda had this feeling but was way more optimistic, Fallout New vegas feels to much like 2 to be dressing

I never played the first two games but i watched oxhorn play it and i have to say there's some certain vibe of hopelessness and brutality that i adore from the first two games. I really hope the series returns to its roots and we get more of that feeling we got from the first two.

I think this is called second chance is because well this is the birth place of the NCR so its the only hope in the hopeless wastes the other music definitely represents the hopelessness.

Still canonically alive and kicking thanks to the dialogue options from the NCR Scientists and Personnel in New Vegas, no matter what Todd and his talentless hacks say. Rendering their new show non-canonical. They're still mad that Obsidian made a better Fallout game in a matter of 6 or so months, then they did in YEARS worth of time for 3 and 4. 🤣
@czarnakoza96976 ай бұрын
what bethesda did to this series is a crime especially the brotherhood talk to maxon in fallout 1 and he is a very chill dude resembling nothing of the racists and facists of bethesda
@marcuscain1377Ай бұрын
There's multiple things incorrect with this comment. First off, the result of that quest doesn't have a definitive result because of the options is to destroy the Vault 22. And you said dialogue "OPTIONS" meaning that it's possible it didn't happen. Secondly, Shady Sands was nuked after the events of New Vegas, meaning that game and the show are still canon. And no amount of you crying is going to change that. Thirdly, Todd Howard and Bethesda aren't jealous of New Vegas. That misconception was made up by angry New Vegas fanboys and the fanbase seems to believe that. Fallout 3 and 4 actually made way more sales than New Vegas, meaning they're more successful. Fourthly, Obsidian made New Vegas in 18 months, not 6. That's a year and a half. It's still impressive, but at least get the development time correctly.
@marcuscain1377Ай бұрын
@@czarnakoza9697Yeah that's one BoS member. It's convenient how you don't mention any other BoS member in Fallout 1. Elder Lyons from Fallout 3 isn't racist, but because "Bethesda bad" you're going to ignore that and only point out the Fallout 4 BoS and say every version of Bethesda's BoS is racist.
@czarnakoza9697Ай бұрын
@@marcuscain1377 because every bos member in fo1 is the same in fo3, they are generic good guys without the moral complexity of the original bos while still not being assholes i dont expect a bethesda fanboy to understand
