0:32 Still the best burning to death sprite out there. Blood's cultists burning is a close second, but this one is more dramatic.

Cultic's burning animation is something inbetween.

My childhood right there. I was born in 85 so I was about 11- 12 when the first 2 games came out. I spent the summer holidays indoors playing them rather than outside with my friends

You were 12 when Fallout 1 came out (1997) and 14 when Fallout 2 came out (1999).

Based. Im 20 now and just went back to these games after being a fan of the new games and the level of freedom, choice, and nuance is truly an amazing feat of game development for the time and even now.

At the back of the Fallout 2 manual there is a recipe for ?cookies? and a picture of a couple in dress attire in front of a clean house(Vault City sprite I think). It always bothered me that you didn't get that shot as some hidden ending by getting married. It was a strange addition to the manual and the joke went over my head if there was one.
@dildonius6 ай бұрын
You _can_ get married in Fallout 2. If you talk to Mira in Redding you can potential have a 1 night stand with her and when you wake-up the next morning her dad catches you and, armed with a shotgun pointed at you the whole time, forces you to get married to her. At which point she will follow you as a companion for the rest of the game. She will refuse to take or use any weapons or armor you try to give her, indeed she will refuse to carry ANYTHING for you, will refuse to wait anywhere or be dismissed, and in combat she will not participate, only run away to the top corner of the screen and hide in fear until you win the fight. This can happen whether your character is male or female. But if your character is female, you can wind up doing this with Mira's brother (I think his name is Jacob) and it's the same scenario. But Jacob will refuse to hook up with you if you're male or if you're a female who is married to Mira.

I'm just glad things like this exist still. And someone still had footage. They definitely need to be preserved and good to look back on and all that.

Glad to see this resurface after all these years. Are you planning to so a video on the prelease content for Fallout 2?
@TriangleCity9 ай бұрын
I'm going to do a Development and Cut Content video at some point. Script is still in a pretty early state tho

There were way less games back then, so things like E3 could exist. However E3 can no longer exist as it would take them weeks to show the newest games, there are way more games today than in the past, it is now an industry worth over 200 billion dollars. Back during the late 90's the video game industry in adjusted dollars was only worth around 50 billion. So it is objectively over 4x bigger today than it was back then. And the amount of games released is even bigger than 4x, thanks to all the smaller companies making games as well.

People usually says than fallout 1 and 2 looks ugly but for me they looks the most charming and full of soul way of say "outdated"

The characters in fallout 3 aged worse in my opinion, they look like melting wax figurines

I wasn't alive at this point but how big was e3 in 98?
@w1ngs20169 ай бұрын
If i remember correctly, e3 was for investors back then, not rly for the actual consumers. It was a lot smaller and no one really cared or even knew about it aside from people interested in investing in the video game market. I could be completely wrong, tho, since i also wasn't even alive then lol. And i might be getting this info confused with spaceworld

I wonder how large an isometric fallout game could be if you built it with a more detailed version of this engine. Probably massive.
