Fallout 3 Lore - What Happened to Megaton

It doesn't exist anymore because a man in a suit and a British man offered me a sweet apartment to blow it up and he even let me push the button. If Megaton didn't want to get blown up then they shouldn't have built a city around a live nuclear bomb.

I think the clocks being put up are little different than why we put them in out camps in 76. It's human nature to decorate the place you live and I think clocks even not working would present a sense of continuity and familiarity to people.

Having grown up in the DC area, it is my belief that Megaton closely proximates Dulles Airport, which was previously Blue Ridge Airport - 1938. . I lived in Anndale once upon a time. (real world Annandale. Go Atoms. Yes, the team name of the local high school. ha ha ha )

I don't think Megaton is where the airport was, but it could have been further west than Tysons. Manya says, "There was an air station a couple of miles from here. It'd been stripped of everything except the planes. My daddy got a bunch of people together to go out there, break apart the machines and drag back what we could use." Tysons is definitely farther from Dulles than 'a couple miles', but it's hard to tell exactly where Megaton would be, thanks to the map not being exactly to scale.

@@IrresoluteCartographer - well, i based my opinion on how well Fallout is able to keep locations in accurate geographic locations. 😆 Though Dulles came after the timeline split, the previous Blue Ridge Aiport - with grass landing fields. Thnak you for all of your videos. I enjoy each of them.

Wow! One of the best information told about Megaton. I first entered this settlement in winter 2009. After more than 14 years, one of the most beautiful games ever is left for me.

Dude, no sleeping on the job! The bomb inside of Megaton is clearly NOT a missile from a submarine. Also, it did clearly NOT detonate when impacting the location of Megaton.

Megaton is the worst city in the entire fallout universe, this is in no way saying i dislike the game, I love all the fallout but mega ton has some design issues For one let's get started about the food sources, so Moira claims there are trade caravans that come to Megaton but when you talk to these trade caravans they barely have any food on them certainly not enougj for a whole town and other characters will claim the local mole rats serve as a food source, Mega ton is proven to have no kind of farms and there is only one Brahman which is used for milk indicated by the bucket and Moira claiming to use Braham milk to cure your radiation. So mega ton is not properly able to sustain itself in terms of food The entire city is in a deep crater, it doesn't matter if you have walls, you're still downhill from anything that's attacking you so this just gives raiders or mutants an advantage in combat much less if there was some sort of flood, the entire town would end up underwater The entire place is made of thin sheet metal, I don't think I need to understand why that is bad in a dangerous post apocalyptic world where everyone has guns and explosive weapons or laser cannons and some creatures are 10 feet tall and stronger than 50 men Moira brown is the main trade hub, she controls the general goods and pays off trade caravans to help Mega ton, the only problem is Moira brown is stupid, Moira brown is so stupid that she will make you search a supermarket for food 200 years after the nukes, Moira brown is so stupid that she asks you to get yourself shot and report your injuries, Moira brown is so stupid she asks you to drink irradiated water until you grow a third arm so she can study it for her book, point being, mega ton did not send their best against the wasteland Not to mention the situation with the bomb, who on earth decides to build a town around a bomb, how no one has come by and detonated that thing in the last 200 years is a miracle, it seems Mr Burke was the only resident of the town who had common sense because he wanted to wipe it out If you look at goodsprings in fallout new vegas you can clearly see there are farms, they are growing crops like corn, they have bighorners being used as cattle, trudy has a distiller in her backroom that she uses to make alcohol that she sells in the bar, sunny smiles is shown to train residents on how to defend themselves because the town has no walls, goodsprings is also in a good location, a sheer canyon behind it and flat ground for quite a distance and lots of places to run and take cover or hide and barricade a house, the homes in goodsprings are also built more sturdy and comfortable -
