It was in the Brotherhood of Steel DLC. The DLC unlocks the option for Fawkes to activate the purifier and you can go do the BoS quests.

But you can’t choose both. After choosing one option or the other, all of the raiders in uptown die and the slaves stay there and make it their home and try to make a cure. They have no leadership or work incentive now that their there. If you choose raiders, an absolute fuck ton of named slave NPC’s that you met get to die. Next you also have to decide what to do with the child. The child is the cure for all of the pitts diseases. Wernher is willing to do anything just for the cure, but her parents want to make sure the tests are safe. The Pitt is much more than ‘be good or be bad.’

That wasn't the worst possible ending. Put the virus in the water and then get lyons to activate and you kill basically everyone in the wasteland except the fascists and yourself. Now that's pretty bad.

This is the biggest problem with this game. You get a karma level but the interactions with the different factions are pretty underwhelming. You can't even attack the brotherhood of steel or side with the enclave, so your choice to suddenly betray them feels cheap. Same with most evil choices you're given : you rarely have actual reasons to do this, except being a total psycho.

What I really dislike about the possible endings, is when you choose to send either Fawkes or Charon into the purifier. The game basically calls you a coward, which is stupid. This is just a testimony to why Bethesda needs to hire real (or at least not lazy) writers for their storylines. Seriously... Would it have been a stretch to say that you took the sensible approach and allowed someone who wouldn't be affected by the radiation to turn on the purifier for the benefit of all? **smh** Bethesda should be held up to the same scrutiny that other AAA developers are held to. Being the best of those who suck isn't something to aspire to.

Idk...? I turned it on / sacrificed myself I didn't know it would be the end....it just showed the ending for everyone else maybe a few different words then I wake back up in the citidel.... Pretty sure after that you get a quest and later in it have the option to use some kind of ballistic missiles to either blow up the citidel megaton and the place you're supposed to blow up in the quest I thought it was a fun quest but yeahhhhhhhhh

You only continue if the purifier is turned on. That is if you have the dlc.

I'd love to see a fallout game in the south. If Bethesda does do this, I'd like for them to start with Mississippi and add the surrounding states as dlc, with new factions and creatures. This could also be an opportunity to add some makeshift weapons and maybe even drive-able vehicles.

Thot Slayer Jar Man the original 2 Fallout games had cars and actual cities being built... Then Bethesda bought Fallout. 200 years after the apocalypse and people are still living in piles of rubble. Bethesda would never put so much care into a game. Plus they don't have a game engine strong enough for multiple States or vehicles. Cars will get stuck on a dead body. New Vegas Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 are still worth checking out though. The DLC for those games individually are better than any crap Bethesda has made
