For the sniper build you may as well bump perception down by 1 and putting that where you want since the bobble head shows up so early.

Here is what I came up with after the perk tree was fully revealed, until I can see how much health we have as well as how harsh radiation is, I feel as though Endurance is the weakest Special Stat in the game. Comparing it to your builds, I place it somewhere between the generalist and the sniper, which is most likely how I will play it. STRENGTH 3 -armorer PERCEPTION 4 -pick pocket -rifleman -awareness -locksmith ENDURANCE 1 -toughness CHARISMA 3 -lady killer -lone wanderer INTELLIGENCE 6 -medic -gun nut -hacker -scrapper AGILITY 7 -commando -sneak -action boy -moving target -ninja LUCK 4 -boost eventually to get luck 6+ perks

Are there actually wait (or something similar) commands available for companions? The reason I'm asking this, I really want to play as a sniper character (plus stealth), but at the same I would enjoy some company lol. If it's viable, would it actually be a good idea to replace the Lone Wanderer perk with something else (like Scrounger for example)?
@Juncti
@Juncti 9 жыл бұрын
One problem unless I missed it on the sniper build is bloody mess requires a luck 3, so you'll have to invest there before you can unlock it this route. Perhaps a slight modification, drop perception to 7, bump luck to 2. From the videos I've seen you get a very early chance at a free skill point you could use to bump luck to 3 unlocking bloody mess almost right out the gate, then the perception bobble head is also a pretty early find from what I've seen. Thus getting you to a very early 3833373 build by probably level 3 without putting any level ups into skill points.

I was taking notes anyway, so here's some shortcuts if anyone's interested. This is for the sniper build on that note. Strength: 3 Perception: 8 Endurance: 3 Charisma: 3 Intelligence: 3 Agility: 7 Luck: 1 Here's the perks in order: Rifleman Ninja Sniper Bloody Mess Lady Killer Up INT to 5 with the next 2 levels. Gun Nut Scrapper Mr.Sandman Sniper 2 Ninja 2 Rifleman 2 Gun Nut 2

*NON STORY RELATED SPOILER* - - - - - - - By the way, there is a skill book near the very start of the game. In your ruined house, you can find the You're Special book underneath a cabinet in Shauns room. It gives you a free SPECIAL attribute. Seeing as how Jon didn't level up even once before he got to his home, it can pretty much be considered part of your starting build points.

No weapon degredation, eh? I've got mixed feelings about that. There should be some element of scarcity or upkeep in the wastelands. However, if ammo is as rare as you say, then perhaps that'll do as a replacement scarcity mechanic, without being as annoying as maintenance.

Someone will probably mod in weapon degrading
@Thiccubus
@Thiccubus 9 жыл бұрын
+Sines314 As Dylan said, someone is gong to likely mod it in, but with the rubberbanding mechanic existing, and from what Ive experienced thus far, Bethesda likely removed it figuring the degrading armor system would need to be micromanaged (especially with the separated damage types) more-so than the weapons -- staying alive being more prevalent than killing the enemy. Ammo is rather rare if you're adamant in keeping with one singular weapon type, so there's also that. I hope this all makes sense; I've not slept in sevral days, so my thoughts may be sporadic.

When I created my character, I created a generalist going into the game completely blind, in addition to being completely new to the fallout series as well, so not having any understanding exactly what impact each of the stats has on your character. With that said, I leaned towards a Lucky/Charismatic/Intelligent character, though I probably would readjust the stats if I could go back in time. It actually took me till level 4 or 5 before I choose to take my first perk, simply because I didn't know enough about the world or the perks to know what I'd want or need for stats. My initial breakdown was: S3, P4, E2, C5, I5, A4, L5 Given that I rarely use Critical Hits (often I forget they are even available) and I haven't touched the Luck Perks, I definitely would have moved a few of those points elsewhere. After 30 levels I've pushed an Intelligent/Charismatic build, partially to be really good at Persuasion, as well as to prep for the Nuclear Physicist perks in order to have Fusion Cores last a whole lot longer in Power Armor. The downside is that I've started to feel that I've been falling behind enemies, since other than Toughness and one level of Rifleman, I hadn't even touched any of the other Combat oriented perks... I also like scrapper/weapon/armor crafting as well as Hacking/Lockpicking, so I've pushed those perks as well. In fact, weapon modding is probably the only way I've kept up with the tougher enemies. If I could go back in time to redo my first and current playthrough, I probably still wouldn't want to know what I know about the game now, and experience the game again with fresh eyes, rather than choosing stats to min-max to get certain perks. I'll probably re-watch this video a few times, especially if I plan to playthrough the game a second time, though I've apparently heard the story plays through much the same, even if you try to make different choices.

For the Sniper build, you can save a point in perception, because you run across the Perception bobblehead in Concord, which is a stones throw away from Vault 111, and where the main quest takes you almost immediately. I think I was only level 2 or 3 when I found it.

Hey, I don't know if you know this, but apparently Intelligence increases exp by 10% per point. If this is true it makes it the strongest stat to boost early on, because there's no level cap. I'd have every character start on 8 intelligence, since there's the special book early on where you can add 1 more point to it, and presumably a bobblecap for int somewhere else.

I have a question. Is there some way to detect unaware enemies? Like they showing up on the compass or so? Does perception do that or maybe the "Awareness" perk (the name does make it sound like the right one). I'm planning a assassin/sneak/sniper run but without being able to see the enemy first does make it a lot less alluring :/ sure you could just use sight but thats not exactly fool proof all the time.

What I'm curious about is what categories different weapons fall under. I would assume that a minigun falls under "Heavy Weapons" and thus is improved by the Heavy Gunner perk... But miniguns are obviously automatic as well. I don't see Commando being able to stack with Heavy Gunner, but I wonder if the highest of the two effects it or if Commando just doesn't apply at all. Pretty vague wording.

For your Sniper build, you can't take 1 in Luck and Bloody Mess in your first 5 perks, because BM is a Luck 3 perk. Would you recommend dropping Endurance and Charisma a bit early to get Luck to 3 from the go?

I wanted to double check the talk about 9s and 10s in stats. I created a character with natural 10 perception. The You're Special book didn't let me pick perception, but the perception bobble head took me to a natural 11. There's no perk, but you get the other bonuses. Particularly for intelligence, but technically for all the stats, it could be rewarding to perk train up to 10 and only then Get the bobble head.

Does the game's distance look blurry to anyone else? Also, is it possible to darken the game a bit? It looks a little too colorful for a post-apocalyptic game.

I've tinkered with a really fun melee + Luck/low Intelligence build and this is what I would suggest (with You're S.P.E.C.I.A.L. book): 9 Strength, 1 Perception, 1 Endurance, 1 Charisma, 1 Intelligence, 9 Agility, 7 Luck It may seem strange that Luck is sort of the secondary skill here, but it's simply because early game agility is more useful. To start you're going to want to take Idiot Savant, Rooted, Big League, and Blitz, in that order. Always dump points into those perks as they become available . From there you can either build your Luck up or invest in stealth. You want Luck at 9 by level 15. All of the perks after Idiot Savant are very powerful, though mostly at their second ranks+. Stealth is not necessary, however hugely useful. Personally I would recommend prioritizing stealth over Luck until around level 20, so Sneak and Ninja. Also grab Action Boy/Girl. At level 20, if you weren't using VATS much, you will start to use it way more. From here, you should have taken/be taking the second ranks of Idiot Savant, Better Criticals, Critical Banker, Grim Reaper's Sprint, Four Leaf Clover, and Blitz. Mysterious Stranger isn't really useful in a melee build; you kill too quickly for him to show up , but he might be useful at his third rank. Ricochet is optional, but I would definitely grab it when its third rank becomes available at level 50. Do NOT take the third rank of Idiot Savant--it's a net loss in EXP. That is the core build. Idiot Savant levels you up quite fast, even without save scumming. Sometimes quests will give you 1k+ experience, so you will have room to play around. Although the build starts fairly limited, late game you will be afforded many more perks than you would without Idiot Savant (which, by the way, is always worth taking regardless of your intelligence). It's a very fun and insanely powerful build, but because of its limitations I would recommend it for a second play-through because you absolutely will miss out on awesome Intelligence perks. If you want to take any favorite perks right away from the middle 4, you can take up to two points away from Luck during SPECIAL distribution. Either way you're going to want to eventually work Luck up to at least 9. With Idiot Savant you ALWAYS want Intelligence at 1, it's worth it. For the other skills, bobble heads will help and Idiot Savant will allow you quite a lot of experience in a shorter amount of time. Have fun, thanks for reading, and feel free to discuss!

For the sniper class, I think I would put 6 in PER so that you can get the 5 in INT. It just seems like, with how weak the lower level creatures tend to be, having the scrapper perk would be more convenient early game so that you can get a head start on perfecting your gun and just relying on skill to make up for the accuracy you would be lacking from the extra PER, even if it means a few lost bullets or a cover blow. But I understand having 8 in PER with how scarce bullets are; every shot counts. Great video, thumbs up for sure!

Something I want to try: Concentrated Fire/Gun Fu + Grim Reaper's Sprint + Four Leaf Clover + Critical Banker + Action Boy + Damage increase perks and weapon of choice = rooms full of enemy corpses. Keeps refilling critical meter and V.A.T.S. allowing you to activate tons of critical hits in short amounts of time on multiple targets dealing tons of damage.

I think leaving Strength at 1 is a better option for a generalist build. You can get it up later if you really need it but I've had no struggles with this in my build. Also, whatever your planned build is you should just cut off one Perception point and put it elsewhere as the perception bobble head is available very early on in the game. Like really early.

The best build for min\max purposes is as follows. S: 7 P:1 (grab bobblehead.) End 7 Charisma 6 Intel 1 luck 5 Enough strength to slaughter raiders in melee early on to conserve ammo, enough end not to squish, and enough charisma to work speech. grab savant and its upgrade as your top priority. You should be level 16 by the time you meet Paladin Danse. You level at such a fast pace, you can essentially mold this setup to fit any specialization desired.

Thank you for posting. There is some good analysis of Perk Mechanics in here. I'm sure there are a few corrections here and there, but overall, great information. I discovered Blitz, and I can't believe how much fun it made my melee character - with high strength, endurance and Action Boy, you can run around bashing or slicing your enemies nonstop. I really like the synergy of these perks for melee: Big Leagues, Rooted (seems to work in VATS), Action Boy and Blitz. (Minor Spoiler) Still, none of these helped against the Mirelurk Queen :-(

I think I'll stick with your original generalist build and keep Endurance at 5 for the swimming perk and keep Intel at 5. Who knows what you'll find underwater and it'll be a nice getaway if you need a quick out... aaaaaaannnnd...I'm thinking some buildings lower levels will be flooded with all that water on the map. Just a thought. Super hyped for this game! Thanks for the previews today and for everything to come!!!

Note to self: start with Perception 6 + Agility 9 + Luck 9 then get Idiot Savant and Night Person for XP buffs. Then go for Scrounger and Locksmith to build up ammo reserves, then actionboy and reaper for AP reserve. Then banker and clover for faster VATS automatics crit, then rifleman to bypass armor on sniper ninja shots. "You are SPECIAL" should boost Perception, with Bobblehead for Sniper perk, then V.A.N.S for +2 Perception.
