Fallout 4 Mods - Coastal Cottage Progress Update

I've been working on my latest settlement mod for Fallout 4 - this time it's Coastal Cottage. Here is the work in progress, and hopefully it should be live next week.

I was able to make a pretty sweet settlement here with a cool walk through (if I may say so) check it out on my channel if you’re interested. There’s a really cool bunker that I was able to place in the hole and it’s all on ps4 with no special mods Hope people check it out because it was my favourite place to build. Anyway, glad there’s still building going in the wasteland!

I really, REALLY like "Coastal Cottage Redone and Overhauled" by Quaz30. I'm not sure I could ever part with it. I use Coastal Cottage as my personal home when I am going to/from Far Harbor in my playthroughs.

Nice, can't wait. I can't build on most of the floor in that little cabin, it's weird. Hoping your mod will fix that.

The underground part is so underwhelming, it needed to be way bigger.

this settlement is definitely a difficult build. nothing seems to be symmetrical for the build pieces to tie in without being askew or not believable

Its gonna suck when they drop the next gen update and 90% of mods will be broken and never get fixed because the mod authors wont bother to fix them

It's a fine area, though a bit trickier then some others in a way. Takes a bit more planning and cleaning but in the end, it can be a very nice small settlement, albeit somewhat remote.

I’m loving the little cave. I’ve been trying to implement the “bomb shelter” idea you did years ago but for some reason I can’t pillar glitch it in on the Xbox for the life of me! Lol. I have a couple of your mods and really like this one too.

Coastal Cottage CAN be used as a Railroad safehouse, and it's probably the best one, seeing as it's the closest to, and a logical progression to Arcadia from the main Railroad safehouse. It's also high up, so your turrets get great line of sight on the bridge to the east where raiders tend to spawn. I love the Coastal Cottage so much, except for the cave, which the game doesn't let you scrap enough of, and if you use a mod, you can break the settlement. So it's best not to use the cave at all. Plus you don't wanna get stuck behind an NPC who won't move. I always put one of the flat guard posts in the garage door, and I like to glitch stairs in everywhere, so it's like the settlers put boards in to step on and the mud just kinda overtook the edges a bit. I wonder if you could expand the cave. Like have farming and some light defences above ground, and a decent little base under. It's something I might try if I ever got into CK.

Ooof, Coastal Cottage is a tough one in vanilla! As always I tried to encompass the entire build area without mods. I kept the junk piles and built foundations above them. I painstakingly dinked around with build order to make foundations at various heights to keep all walls and buildings between those elevations together flush. And then I tried to put every bit of that together to make something that made sense. It was frustrating but I wound up with some very interesting spaces in the interiors of the same buildings at different elevations. I didn't even try to bother with the cave - I was worn out from everything else! I really like this clean, sensible, smaller approach! :)

Sweet, Davey! Can't wait to see what kind of structure you build. I have both built off of the given house b4 & managed to somehow make it work & also, with mods, scrapped the whole thing and built my own. However there was, annoyingly, a bit high up on the house that jut wouldn't scrap and left some triangular framework floating in the air. Grrr. Also, some trees wouldn't go. I did something kinda similar with the cave entrance. Had some kiddos farming glowing mushrooms and brain fungus in there. Thanks for getting back into it. 👍
