@Conn Benn He does mention fairly often that he did lots of practice runs before he started (and it's taken YEARS for him to get to this play through). If I was going to do this I'd have another non-survival save that I could load to test a route before I sent my YOLO character down that path (and I think it's fine if this is what he's doing). But after following Jon over many social medias for many years he seems far more of an honest character than not.

Fallout 4 doesn't round your health, it simply just displays whole numbers in your pip-boy. You're just not seeing the .5 health you have (You can see it at 21:43 from the notification). You're actual health loss is ~1.2, so with an even amount of endurance (hp per level is 2.5 + END/2 ) it will look like you have 1 hp lost then 2 the next.

Jon got so lucky in the corvega factory. On at least 3 occasions raiders rounded a corner already blasting at him without cover, and they all managed to miss several shots before his VATS took them out. Let's not even talk about the molotov which exploded against a door half a second after jon closed it. Had he been slightly less lucky he could have easily left at less than 50% max health there

Jon, that ultra-light build on your chest piece was a mod that was already in one of your inventories (workshop, your personal ETC.) Thats why you could build it without the proper rank in armor, and without any resources!

I don't think so; the "Ultralight" version appears to be a glitch. 1. He wasn't at the appropriate level for the advanced perk. 2. He was watching his weight and only taking the best armor, so I don't think he found it. 3. Although I've not played in survival, I've not seen it spawn in game that early in Very Hard. 4. It didn't appear to be a mod as there was no popup to "Apply the mod." 5. It was listed twice; once, highlighted at the top (and before the lesser "lightweight version") and then again lower in the menu in its normal position and not highlighted. It is likely some side effect of installed mods or just a random glitch.

The way I understand that double meat works is that it doubles the percentage rate at which it spawns. So if a creature has a 100% chance to spawn meat upon death, with Wasteland Survival it'll double to 200%, so it'll spawn twice. Whereas if you have a less common type (eg Bloodbug Meat) that only spawns maybe 40% of the time, it'll go up to spawning 80% of the time.

@@thelongestrose Can't get Bunker Hill until after Battle for Bunker Hill, and moving from Oberland into Boston takes you past some places that spawn hostile encounters. I would probably go for Grey Garden, but the quest for it could be undoable in this run due to the Super Mutant packing a rocket launcher. Using the river as a sort of super highway could make Egert Tours Marina a viable option provided he is willing to spend that time going up and down the river so often.

A few tips: 1. "Summer shorts" are the best charisma clothing, as they only take up the chest and undergarment slot, allowing you to keep most of your pocketed gear on. 2. You can craft Newka-cola for rad-free caffeine and AP at the nuka mixer, with one nuka-cherry and nuka-cola. 3. Tinker Tom sells the "Tinker Tom Special", a legendary hunting rifle guaranteed to spawn with a silencer (and in my experience also with a calibrated powerful receiver, though that might be level dependent). Even though you can't use legendaries, you could take the parts from it. Though hunting rifles are arguably not that much better than the bolt-action pipe rifles. They are faster firing, which is useful in VATS, have a slightly higher damage, and are better for crits with the calibrated receiver.. But they are also a lot more heavy. 4. When firing multiple shots in VATS you can tab out of VATS (I don't know the button for it on a controller), and immediately go back in VATS again, to take shots faster.

There are a lot of decisions being made in the interest of time with hunger, thirst and tiredness clocks always ticking. Money is not really an issue since he can sell almost all meds and drugs he finds.

@@markmcknight1004 I'd argue it's less that - he has a limitless supply of water and sleep available at settlements and he isn't at a part of the game where he needs to wander far enough to cause problems. And he's pretty good on food. I suspect this is just a playstyle thing. He's either learned that minmaxing loot doesn't make sense because there's nothing he wants to buy (fairly true of Fallout 3, and even New Vegas doesn't need that much past the implants and maybe a couple purchases from Gun Runners), or he thinks it wouldn't be entertaining to watch or maybe both. I actually find myself bartering through most of the midgame, so there's definitely scope to use caps in Fallout 4. But I'd be surprised if we ever saw Jon doing this on a regular basis - maybe only for one specific purchase he wants to get. Or if a legendary drops he wants to use and he needs to buy expensive ammo.

@@aetryn1485 it depends doesn't it really. when you can make the best cap to time ratio with the ease of empty bottles (purified water) it really doesn't matter picking up everything. Esp when your STR is so low you can only carry a certain amount. When I played this game, I liked being able to carry everything, as I always play a trader rather than a run/gunner. But thats just because I rather build/manage than do stuff myself. Literally all I did this game is get that robot as a companion and fired occassionally for combat, and the rest I either chucked molotovs at them or grenades. Then I just built my settlements up where you could just call the minutemen to come in and clear up (i think - not sure if that was a mod).

No, it's a bug. If it's a mod you just have, the regular ultralight would be green and say "attach".

The ultra light definitely said build. Not attach. Though it might just be a hidden perk of that chest piece. The two ultra light builds are also different. The locked one also adds a third special point.

The reason the Ultra-Light looked like it was free was because you more than likely picked up/scrapped armor that gave you the mod for it. It doesn't matter the prerequisites for any mod as long as you "unequip it" by changing the slot it takes to none/nothing or scrapping the armor itself (I believe) So it should be in your inventory under mods at the far right tab, making it perfectly legal. So theoretically if you find a piece of leg armor better than your muffled leather, you can just remove the mod from it and place it on the better armor piece. Makes things much easier that way. Loving the series so far btw!

20:31- That Cunning Raider Chest Piece could be EXTREMELY useful for your run here as the "ultra light weight" mod for raider chests is free... and those extra AP could easily become the difference between getting damaged in a situation or completely avoiding it! Good stuff.

In my playthrough of Fallout 4 I immediately got sunglasses, and then either wore them or full face helmets for the rest of the game. Therefore I never noticed that your character actually closes one eye when aiming down the barrel. Neat.

Going into Corvega, you literally only need to take out Jared to finish the Tenpines quest. That means that all things being equal, going in by the sewer means you don't need to take out all the people on the rooftops. I literally clear the place most of the time but for fragile characters the bulk of the ground level and _nothing_ outside needs to be taken out if you go in through the sewer and move slow and cautious. Fewer targets to deal with overall and they're closer.

The musket has no spread, just that loopy shot so it is great for extreme long ranged aimed shots. It was great to kill the lookouts on corvega in my last survival run.

Update on my own survival mode adventure. After several hours of playing I happened to run into Cricket outside of Diamond City selling a nearly fully upgraded sniper rifle with a silencer and recon scope! I poured all of my caps and sold loot into buying my new baby. I don’t know how it spawned but it would’ve take quite a while for me to be even able to craft something as good as this gun. Now I’ve been slaughtering everything from a distance as I build up McCready’s affinity for his nerfed but still good perk.

Every episode of this series is a treat. Fallout 4 is my first Fallout game and my second Bethesda game. I know that makes me biased against the prior Fallout games, but this will always be close and dear to my heart. Seeing how you tackle this game so cleanly is such a joy.
