Just lost my legendary deathclaw (had for over a year) to griefers about a week ago. Even with pacifist on (and no turrets to initiate aggro), griefers know how to get around this and can and will destroy your base/pet. Just be warned as there has been uptick in this happening recently with just in the last week with many people losing their beloved pet. Just know what the griefers are doing right now you can't stop outside of switching bases or logging off. Essentially getting a pet is now a complete waste of time. If you decide to get a pet anyways, here's a tip. If you see 2 people at your camp and they are 'wanted', switch bases immediately or log off. Because that was the only warning I got.

Yep, for me, CAMP next to Wayward it happens all the time, have caught players killing my pets even. Not supposed to happen, but it does. I gave up on pets because of that.

The only way they can kill your camp is if they use turrets placed down by their grief camp. You’d have to be pretty clueless to not notice a newly placed camp to yours with wanted players next to your camp…

im gonna admit that ive been playing this game for 3 years now and didnt even know you could tame enemy creatures in this game until a couple days ago. i jumped to someones camp, turned around and there was a yao guai in my face. i started shooting at it, ofc.. and it took me a second to realize that i wasnt doing any damage to it and it wasnt attacking me. the poor owner ran up to me doing the no emoji and ran around him and it clicked. i felt so guilty for it once i realized. 😅

They’ve been doing all of these quality of life fixes to the game. Well how about you make the pets essential NPC’s and give us an option to dismiss them because I’ve been doing pets for years and they either glitch and fly up in the air and die or glitch under the map or people lure enemies over to kill them. If they were smart they would make them essential and sell beds food bowls houses in the atomic shop it would be a whole new revenue. Wink wink hint hint.

I was in a CAMP yesterday and heard a Yaoguai, turned and there was one right there, I shot it and started damaging it before noticing it was yellow and had the owner's name over it. I am pacifist mode so this should not be possible, but I was doing damage, I checked again. It won't be long until someone actually kills it. This has happened each time I brought home a pet too, someone or something eventually kills it, caught a player killing my deathclaw once and tried to emote them to stop but nope. People on Reddit always say it is not possible, but I have seen it happen again and again, it always does eventually.

Your pet will patrol your camp module. If your camp module is in a tight space your pet can glitch and keep respawning.

the type of pet is determined by where your camp is. for example toxic valley will give you a albino deathclaw while another spot will give you a glowing. another spot will only give you a lvl 50 that will die fast. so each region will spawn different pet types.

I’m an experienced tamer of many years, I’ve had every variant of every animal. Tips: Scorched variants will often be permanently aggressive and attack camp items and area npcs. Variants are biome specific so plan your camp location for specific variants. Mirelurk kings are fantastic combo defence with missile turrets. If you are triggering “empty” instances, return to the card machine and remove/replace animal friend - DONT do it from your pipboy. If you lose an animal unexpectedly upon spawning in, goto a private fallout 1st server. Swapping between public and private servers often has unexpected variant results. The best spots are in the centre bottom of the map. Good luck everyone!!!

It still baffles me that they didn't just keep the animal-cage system from Fallout 4 for pet-taming, instead they added an entirely new very-specific system that the appropriate perk cards required to do it don't even mention that it can, all based entirely on random encounters. I'd argue it'd be easier to rework the cages rather than implement this whole new system. Program every cage like a resource station, put all the cages in the same item category or just make 1 cage and stick a terminal to it to change what animal you want to catch, make it so like the effect of the beta-wave thing (the thing from 4 that made caught monsters tame, which I assume that effect is already programmed in), and have it so you can only build 1 cage and once you get an animal out of it you can't repair it or build any more. If I had it my way, I'd have a mutant hound; if there was a way to rename them, I'd name them Green Bean

Doesn't even need to be that complex. Do your self a favor and go build a fertilizer resource camp item and watch what happens. (Spoiler, it spawns a Brahman at your camp. They could do the same thing for any other creature if they wanted.)

Also heads up, camps built on hills or rough terrain can kill your pet too. The ground mesh when your camp loads in can sometimes take too long, especially if the server is overloaded, and the pet will phase through the earth. It happened to my deathclaw during invaders at my hillside ash heap camp.

Hey Turtle. Thanks for the awsome video. Never was interested in Pets but it was fun to get them since i watched this. If found out that the Upgrade on the Pet do not only depends on were ur Camp is. It also depends on were u log out/in on the server. If i spawn on new server in the Forest and my Camp is in Savage Devide my Deathclaw is alsways Lv50. If i join a Server and spawn at my Camp in Savage Devide my Deathclaw is all the time a Lv100 glowing one. So If u leave a world than do it alsways in a high level region If u want a strong pet everytime.

I got 5 pets in the past years. Always works my method... charisma of 7 as minimum and the perk card in hand. Once you find your pet, tamed, log out, log in again and will be there. The hard part is to find a beast open to tame. Tip....the beast that it can be tamed will always be friendly.

I think one important thing for people to remember is the pet must spawn alone at the location. The megasloth that spawns with the dead megasloth babies is not tamable, nor is the deathclaw that spawns with the super mutants, for example. Great video turtle!

Tbh your spot for the deathclaw is super good. I’ve had multiple spawns. 3 deathclaws and 1 everything else. And in between hopping servers and tames was a random event every time.

Last night I spent 2 hours looking for a mega sloth, ended up finding one, hopped servers 1 time and found his body. I think he spawned underneath the foundation I had and killed him😢

It's not that you have to be close, it's that you can't use a scope to tame it. Use a non-scoped weapon. If you use a scoped weapon, aim it without looking down the scope.

I've had a scorced 3 star deathclaw in my camp for about two years now but then my camp is located in a place where you can't pop up a new camp close by. If I plant any vegetables he's going ape and attacks it forever. Had to create a gardening square upstairs. Guess he's not a vegetarian...

I did get two pets at one camp deathclaw and megasloth. Tamed megasloth first never showed up 2 days later tamed death claw which unstuck megasloth both had my name on them. Eventually lost megasloth

I swear Bethesda needs to hire some people that know what they are doing… Reskin Allies into the animals, put a price tag on each animal and put them in the atom shop. Save money on the voice actors, and make more money on multiple pets.

Just want to inform you that Yao Gai is possible to tame I have done a lot of sever hoping for a legendary deathclaw and for pets for my friends camps and had a Yao gai spawn in that was tameable

Ya so I was able to get 7 animals for 7 different camps. How I was able to do it was server hopping like 21 different locations for random encounters, once I found a tameable animal I sent it to camp. Waited between 15-50 min for it to walk to my base . Once it arrives at my base I switch camp slots and rinse repeat for each seperate base

For me, when I switch camps, if I try to switch back, I get a message saying I recently activated another camp and it won't let me switch back. Also, in the video I noticed there is a bar beneath your health that looks like a Legendary core icon and says X2... what is that for? Don't think I have ever seen that.

How My Deathclaw Died: I had a camp object placed close to a building, a few feet away - when it walked between them, the collision between the deathclaw, the foundation of the building, and the object, cause the deathclaw to fly into the air and die from fall damage. this was just a few months ago as well

Deathclaw didn't die, he just went orbital. He'll show up in Fallout 8, when the do a game based on the moon.

Adelaide killed my Megasloth other day, they both loaded on the same spot and the sloth got stuck on the terrain. Really hard nowadays to find a pet, too many random encounters. Each update will be worst I guess. Was able to get a Deathclaw on the spot of the video, now is hope that it survive.

I spend well over 20 hours to find 4 Deathclaws and each one of them just disappeared for no reason. I simply logged off and the next day/couple of days it was gone. Every time. It is way to buggy

No as long as the camp has an area for it to be able to move around freely in if there's too much s*** in your camp it's possible that your camp will spawn on top of your pet and kill it but if you have it at one base and you switch to another one nine times out of 10 that pet will show up at that other base so it could just be that your pet's switching to another base where it doesn't have anywhere for it to be able to walk around like I'm talking sky bases faces that are off the side of a cliff etc or just too much s*** everywhere on the ground like you want to be able to have a open space area to walk around in if it's not happy it'll just walk off or just won't even show up

I quit taming because I had several bugs going on. 1st my Sloth Pet suddenly dissapeared, didn't changed camp, it like one log in and it was gone, like it phased through map and died. 2. Even on Pacifist other players could trigger the pet to attack them, for example my camp was veing attacked by ghouls and a player saw my Deathclaw attacking them and joined too which triggered the pet and he was eventually able to kill it even if I was pacifist.

The convoluted nature with this game mechanic is quite frustrating. I find it hard to believe Bethesda coded it to work the way it does... I many some aspects of it are bugs, but people don't know exactly know how it's supposed to work, so it's not reported. And then there's the type of pet. See, I reallly want a fox, but even in Duches Flame's own page it's inconsitent - the first table of Rank 1 pets first shown @23:00 doesn't mention it at all, but that final list @23:49 of 20 pets includes Fox. I've seen similar inconsitent tables all over the place. So is it tameable or not?

So I had a deathclaw at my camp a couple days ago, I wanted a snallygaster. Found one, sent it to my camp, literally died not far away from me to raiders. Deatclaw was still at my camp. I found another snallygaster, sent it to my camp. Both pets stayed. I’ve switched servers, I’ve logged out and everything. Every time I log back in, I have 2 pets!

No it'll say tame pet and then right after you tame it the option send to camp and once it's on its way and it's walking and you see it back disappear as you watch it walk off close app and just switch to a different character whatever let it get to your camp safely or go to a private if you don't have a private just close up and switch to a different character or something and then next time you open your game it'll just be there and you won't have to worry about it getting killed or whatever.

@AngryTurtle the camp i have with the pet i only use it when necessary then i swich to a different camp that is what i was talking about with multiple pets not sure if it is to do with the mountain because its so high so the pet cant walk down or something but i hardly use that camp i only use it sometimes as for the megasloth he is new but have it for 3 months now also when i see his health is going down i use the friendly fire perk with flames to heal his health

Only worked once I’ll try again after work today but I sent the creature to the base I wanted it to be at I server hopped with that camp still slotted , I then go to my pokeball camp find another creature to tame and tame it throw down pokeball camp. Switch to the base I sent the first creature to. Then server hop with that camp slotted. Once in new server you should have it the first tamed creature spawn at your base. The second will be at the pokeball base. Rinse repeat for multiple a lot of work to be honest.

The glowing variant is biome specific, your camp must be in that biome to trigger the change

only some rare solo spawn animals can be tamed, that's why I said your chance to find one is around 5%

Never tame scorched variants. They Aggro quick and constantly attack your walls and camp. Unless you want that. 😂 Also, Graham has aggroed my pets and killed them multiple times.

I believe loading screens will actually increase the speed at wich your pet travels to your camp. I think it's an engine thing where time used to be sped up in Fallout 4 if you fast travel far. So if you dont want to use a camp slot this might help.

Word of warning, i think going into your shelter at a pet camp then logging out from inside the shelter may make your pet disappear next you spawn in. Happened to me and i think thats what caused it
