The Smiling Man was a good addition. He’s definitely creepy. Ran into him in the Cranberry Bog and was caught off guard by his outfit. Thought he was supposed to be a man out of time. I would love more creepy Lovecraftian occurrences like in past games.

Even though Fallout 76 may be controversial amongst the fallout community, one of the things I will always love about Fallout 76 is how they included American Cryptid Mythology into the Game. This is something I hope they do in future fallout games, whether as a nod or as an official enemy, because they are a welcome addition of genuinely terrifying creatures. Heck, no matter how many Deathclaws or Cazadors I encounter in game, neither of them will amount up to the Fear of Real Life Cryptid Mythology.

The vulture makes me think more of the Piasa bird than the Thunderbird, which was a fearsome giant bird engraved in cliffside murals overlooking the Mississippi River. It's what I instinctively thought when I saw a giant bird displayed on a cliff.

If they ever bring in the Jersey Devil, it's introduction should be it Killing a Scorch Queen, Just Imagine it, you Start the Scorch Queen mission, you Nuke the Area, she Fly's out and start doing her thing then all of a sudden something BIG tackles her from the sky and wreck her shit and this GIAN Demon Dragon looking fuck looks at you after it's done killing the Scorch Queen. THE HEAVIEST METAL MUSIC START PLAYING.

I can easily see the thunderbird being integrated well in the game, either it starts radstorms when provoked or a radstorm has a random chance of spawning one. A creature capable of changing the weather conditions would be interesting nonetheless

Be kinda cool to see the thunderbirds just flying around non-hostile in the Forest, it'd add to the atmosphere (literally) and give a cool spectacle for new players living in the forest early on. More older versions fould south that are hostile

Personally I think the werewolf is not the Kentucky werewolf but the blue devil werewolf instead. This would make more sense considering that the once in a blue moon event is supposed to be coming around the corner and indrid cold references dancing with the devil under a blue moon. aka maybe the blue devil werewolf

The Thunderbird would be a great addition to 76 as a boss fight, Ixm surprised it has yet to be implemented considering that the Vulture (Giant bird nailed on Seneca Rocks) is not only a great in-game visual for it but it also apparently has full animations in the gme files.

It'd be nice if they utilized that unused model of the vulture scorchbeast creature for a future update. They could easily just call them thunder birds, and have them be new cryptids to hunt down like they did with the Sheepsquatch. Maybe tie them into the Enclave returning.

Those books are awesome. I'd love to see an Agropelter, some sort of tree-dwelling ape monster that used to hurl logs at lumberjacks and poachers. Just imagine, you're just exploring the Mire or the Forest, and suddenly there's this baboon thing throwing logs and branches at you like Behemoths do.

Kinda the other way around. Mirelurk kings first showed in Fallout 3, lakelurks where a reskin of the Mirelurk King and then in Fallout 4 it got a total redesign to look less like the creature from the black lagoon. I honestly thought it was a frog though, not a turtle.

So originally in Fallout 3 they were referenced as Snapping Turtle mutants. For Fallout 4 onwards they obviously redid the look but interestingly they originally intended on it walking upright on it's hind legs. This was scrapped for the hunched over variant we see in 4 & 76 - which does appear more froglike.

The Squonk is easily my absolute favorite cryptid. It's so pathetic, it is said to cry itself to death. It's tears are acidic, and as it cries, it melts into a pool of it's own tears.

The snarly yow (you called it a wolf man) could be the local name for hairy deathclaws: smaller and weaker then the deathclaws we are use to but are much more agile (give them a quick side step that can break VATS), attack in packs, can use some tools (i.e. set up mines as traps and can use stealth boys), and can mimic human speech to an extent (to lure you in). The Vieggieman can be wendinos or super mutants (or both) that have become infested by the strangler vine (it can effect ghouls which is something that the scorched plague could not even do); possibly being even further mutated by the strangler vine.

Nurse Scott's survivor story also mentions the veggie man. Granted he thinks it's an alien, but so did the man who had the real encounter. The tape says he heard a "zapping noise" probably meant to be the jabbering. He lost control of his body, like the original encounter. And when he found his dog it had skin in it's mouth that was "green like moss". In the tape Nurse Scott says he saw it "the night before shit went down".

Rad toad is the frog mutant. It was clearer in fallout 3 but they changed the kings design for 4 onwards. Originally they did plan to have it walk on it’s hind legs interestingly… but the route they ended up going with does seem froglike!

They did recently confirm we'll see two new cryptids added. The Ogua seems to be a guarantee, though the second could be either the Kentucky Wolfman or a more local similar cryptid from West Virginia "The Snarly Yow". Uncanny Caverns already references a west virginia cryptid known as "The Bat Boy", but we could see either the Veggie Man or "The White Things" added in at some point as well.

I would love a bunch of new crypiteds in game there one of the coolest espects of the game. The vegiman could be like a muteted strangler vine creator they already have the base story for that one. A new swine enemy that's easly coming cause they already have it ready they just have to implement it. A ghost they have done that before shouldn't be that hard, maby it could even be a type of boss fight where she guerds the graveyard and summons skeletons to attack you that could be insanly cool. The turtle would be a diffucult one but I would love it if they would add it. The wolf man could be some kind of random encounter of a guy in wolf custom attacking you scobie doo style. The jersy devil would be a diffucult one to implement, but I would love it if they would add it. I'm in if they would do this.

One Cryptid I could be down for is a Yeti, just this giant furry monster that’s super bulky, slows plays AP, and maybe winter or some kind of snow that cools an area (especially now that they made the snow camp effect, I don’t think they’re never gonna use it for something themselves) and this yeti just walks around, or creates a cool energy in its body to bring the element with it. Could be cool, and even add an abusive effect which I’m for.

F76 takes what The Secret World was trying to do a decade ago and executes on it so much better. Appalachia is beautiful, terrifying, tragic, bleak, and darkly intriguing. 76 has developed a great atmosphere thanks to modern graphics, great lighting, dangerous enemies, fun gunplay, and strong environmental storytelling. As someone that played TSW at launch and beyond, and was sad to see it fall into obscurity where it remains even now, F76 is succeeding in all the ways it could have. This cryptid stuff is the best example. It almost feels like a spiritual successor to TSW with stuff like this

The Fallout 3 variant certainly was based on them. Nothing was mentioned that they changed it for 4 but they do look so different!
