I respectfully disagree about the legendary crafting. I’ve been playing since day one I have a level 1500+1200+ and 300+ and I can tell you the two things that have made me think about quitting this game is the legendary rolling lottery where you never get what you want on top of that no safe way to trade. The second is the cap limit. I don’t think people will quit playing just because they get the rolls they want. You also hit a wall of how many rolls you can do anyway because of modules cores and just resources to craft weapons. I’ve been trying to roll a quad explosive 25% less vats railway rifle for years now. I rolled 200 models worth the other day and not only did I not get a single quad that character is over 1000 pounds and I can’t play her for probably two weeks. This is not the way.

I completely agree with this. I burned through hundreds of modules during the pickaxe glitch and burned up the 2000+ legendary cores I had accumulated. And after getting nearly f*** all I seriously thought about quitting. Fortunately the news for this came shortly after she sort of reignited my will to put up with the game.

I’m just confused why they have such a grudge against Quads and in particular the Quad Railway. If this change goes through that gun will be completely dead. Double reload nerf, triple the AP cost and the 50c version gets nerfed into the ground against bosses.

agreed. i suspect if this goes through many people who built their character around the RR will simply just quit the game. even though i do use RR (not quad however) my commando build mainly uses a fixer, so i have that to fall back on, but the RR nerf in general will make me search for another boss killing weapon.

it's good for the game because they will have to do something about the lack of vertical progression and difficulty. relying on rng-based grinds to keep your playerbase around is not good and by fixing this they're putting themselves in a situation where they will have to do something else to keep them engaged now. fallout 76 has some of the most forgiving community i've ever been a part of. the game is over 6 years old now and the cadence of content is abysmal compared to other live service games, but every time a new season releases i see all these youtubers fangirling over the cosmetics rewards while completely ignoring the lack of actual new content, it truly amazes me just how ok they are with it. you swap the new world playerbase for example with fallout 76's and their official discord would be up in flames in a matter of seconds

It never should have been a live service game to begin with, BGS' single player playerbase/community having requested a Fallout SP w/co-op for years that should have worked out of the box as John Carmack, et al, have advocated that online gaming should work, technically, which is much like it used to work technically, i.e. more like Jedi Outcast and 7 Days to Die and unlike the "MMOs" relatively few want to play because they want to play with their real life friends and family as opposed to complete strangers on the Internet. "Live service" was a financial bubble that's, thankfully, burst and the bursting has left a lot of ruined reputations in its wake, including BGS' and Arkane's, et al. The very idea that a Fallout game, of all things, would go the corporate greed route is ironic, to say the least. Ongoing monetization was designed for "free to play" mobile games, which are essentially virtual slot machines in disguise. The idea of video games -- period -- being virtual slot machines has been normalized in the industry to the point that most don't give it a second thought, especially "casuals" and younger players who literally know nothing other than being nickle and dimed to death in their gaming experience. So, if the devs are really considering getting rid of the over-the-top "RNG," it could be the best thing that's ever happened to it. It was probably a mistake for them to promise "free content" in perpetuity simply due to its disastrous launch. Making new content takes time and money, but the game has probably made money hand over fist in spades preying on the psychologically vulnerable with its fully intentional psy-ops and creation of "problems," e.g. the stash limit, to sell subscriptions. "Subscriptions" to what? Robotically repetitive gameplay and a supposed map expansion the size of a postage stamp with a main questline that doesn't even work right? All that Atomic Shop and subscription money obviously has gone elsewhere, namely the pockets of IP owners and investors, not the game. So, if this is some kind of ethical course correction on BGS' part, I'd personally welcome it as long overdue. I'd like to see them become an industry leader as opposed to a follower of predatory industry trends once again, but I'm not holding my breath for that to happen.

Thanks, as always, for the great video Darth! With regards to The Cremator, that weapon does my head in, at events. It's waaay OP & it makes it difficult when many people use the weapon at Events (which they do), to even get a single shot in at targets, if you use a different weapon type. However, even worse, is the fact that Bethesda has not made a fix, in game options, to stop the "Blinding Flash" that The Cremator gives off, making it extremely difficult to see anything at Events. This REALLY needs to be fixed.

@@DarthXionGames Thanks for the reply, Darth. I remember they released an update, that could enable a feature in the in-game options that stopped "Camera Shake" or something similar, for when many players were launching that screaming Mini-Nuke's at Events.

@ZIMsar10 there's already an option to disable camera shake. It's the blinding flash that fills the screen that needs sorting next! 😎 That and the crazy overpowered damage output.

@@DarthXionGames Yes, I already mentioned about the Camera Shake option in my post. But yeah, Bethesda are so slow to fix these issues, I mean hell, my doors always say "Close" (the door is already closed) when you try to enter a door, instead of Open - that's been an annoying issue for years. Or the fact you can't reload your weapon whilst running, but you can reload your weapon, in mid-air!

I heard about the legendary crafting system and My ass puckered lol.... the potential for adding explosive effects back to energy weapons is nauseating to me, so i'm hoping Bethesda have a really good look at exactly what effects will be usable on which weapon types. Because it took far to long to get rid of legacy's in the first place.

Explosive energy weapons are bad but there are some other legacies I wouldnt mind if they made a comeback like Quad Crossbows or having Last Shot on a muzzleloader would be fine.

All they have to do is restrict what legendary mod can be attached to what weapon. I'm guessing 76 is built on a modified version of the creation engine so it would be very simple to add the flag to prevent a mod from being attached. The CK for Fallout 4 has alot of flags for weapons and attachments so I'd bet 76 does too.

Well lets also talk about the guns like the harpoon gun that got absolutely screwed by the legacy situation. I hope the explosive harpoon can return to the game. Idc about the rest but they dogged the harpoon gun

I've just done some testing on the PTR. It is going to take forever to get the mods. I scrapped a bunch of weapons and armor and got one single mod. So I don't think it is going to be any faster than rolling.

We can but hope. The flip side though is people that have the time to grind will be selling tons of mods anyway so it'll bypass the issue that way.

They need to forget about the legendary crafting system. Also instead of making the game easier, add back high level areas, i dont see why they cant have level 200+ creature for people that want a challenge. They could give them rare unique rewards for those players who have been playing the game for years.

No Mans Sky does just fine with players leaving and then returning just for content drops. It's Steam player count is just like the Fallout 76 player count before the TV show.

Great overview👌Thank you for your efforts. Very well explained. Ive seen quite a few changes since 2020 and all these seem like a living nightmare. One concern i have is after market exploits for tradeable legendary mods being imported en-masse into the game from other sources. It will obliterate the game as we know it. Keep up the great work, really appreciate your efforts.😊

Tbh I'm less concerned about that. If they are making the best legendaries easy to get as seem to be the case the value will drop dramatically so it'll probably reduce the amount of external trading going on.

@@DarthXionGames yeah actually you have a very good point there that I missed👌 I still think increasing scrip limit and reducing modules from 4 to 3 for a 3 star roll would be an easier way without going overboard. I agree folks will get bored much quicker getting top tier gear earlier and then there's not much else to work for after that.

I do like the idea of controlling legendary affects but I don’t like it’s chance based and being very low I suppose a system I’d prefer would be like Skyrims enchantment system once you deenchant an effect you learn it The cost to apply isn’t really an issue

I do not, nor will I every buy the age old argument you use that "people will get things faster, they will get bored of them and then leave the game". I have never seen this happen, in any game and if it does then it is very likely an indicator that those players aren't that invested in the game and its consumer friendly not keep them hostage with gambling. I have seen this same argument used by every single proponent of gambling disguised as a crafting system. Deterministic crafting won't kill a game, it will only let people work towards a goal with the security that they will reach it eventually (depending on how grindy it is) and then frees them up to try new builds and weapons. The only people that the current system benefits are those that exploit it for gain or to flex on others based on what they got at random. The new crafting system is a blessing and with some iterations to prevent clear abuse cases it should help the game. Not everyone plays this as their job, keep that in mind.

I think on balance it won't be a huge change to Railway Rifles damage output. They'll feel slower but more accurate, and you'll be able to get extra shots on target I think.

For the weapons with big effects - could they not just tone down the explosion effects for everyone but the user? Other multiplayer games have done that quite well (like Final Fantasy 14).

@@DarthXionGames I play melee, so in some public events I literally can't see what's happening at all! Have to use VATs so I at least get the enemy highlights so I can run in that direction.

I do not like the way that Bethesda described the new legendary crafting system. It going to create items that you use to modify your weapon. I have no doubt that those parts are going to have weight. Only Fallout 1st members will be able to use the new system as described. A regular player with not have enough room in storage to keep the parts.

I doubt the particles will weigh much. Once you have your gear set up you won't even need to keep them in stock any more. Tbh that's the least of my concerns with this.

I've tried to get a full set of unyielding, sentinel secret service armor for years. I own a full set of unyielding, +1 intelligence armor instead. I hate West-Tek XP farming. No thank you RNGesus. Let me play the game how I want to play, not how you want me to play. The legendary slot machine blows.

All they'd need to do is say, "Explosive legendary mod can't go on X weapon," relaxing the rules doesn't necessarily mean "allow absolutely everything." ========== I also don't necessarily agree that providing actually accessible loot will cause things to get boring. I understand the mindset -- It's an Achiever vs. Explorer thing, TBH (see Bartle's Taxonomy) Achievers derive their motivation from exactly that - achieving. Getting that perfect meta item, that one godroll, is the objective, and that objective should be hard to get or it doesn't mean anything. BUT, if you're an Explorer, that just becomes a boring, demotivating wall of a grind between you and your build exploration, and it can be INCREDIBLY demotivating. So, we may see some Achievers drop out, but we'll likely see them replaced by Explorers. Adding in something else for the Achievers to sink their teeth into, like their weird social-media-esque competitive CAMP building, vying for the most likes or what-not, or Daily Ops leaderboards, or something like that, could help divert Achievers to something more productive that isn't demotivating the Explorers. In fact, it could help the two work together, because it's usually the Explorers who find the new little tricks that the Achievers turn into the new meta. ===== Personally, I find it boring and discouraging to mess around with all the stacked RNG. The sheer grind to try and get the loot I need to actually make the build viable at higher levels is more daunting than my desire to actually play. My stash is getting full on my main because I'd rather try out different builds there, where I can get to the gear I need faster, rather than make a new character and have to start everything over from scratch. Being able to actually put together a build in a reasonable amount of time, and get right to the heart of exploring the build, and seeing the game from a new angle, will make me far more motivated to make new builds and new characters, as well as evolve those builds over time, rather than just sticking with the one or two that work and balking at the idea of doing anything else. No one mindset is wrong, necessarily, but when satisfying the Achievers puts up walls that block the Explorers, then I think there are better ways to appeal to each group - especially since generally-speaking, Explorers and Achievers tend to work together to great effect.

Kind of hope the next seasons blueridge themed to match the content update. Personally i'm really tired of meta's in games in general 76 i don't follow it at all and use a wide variety of guns because they're fun, so the change to legendary crafting gives me mixed feelings.

I would imagine it will be blue ridge caravan themed. One of the things they wanted to achieve with the season change earlier in the year was opening up post war themes for seasons so it would make sense.

Hey Sir Darth, I might be late to this particular party, but what the heck happened to blueprints?!?!?!?! I play on console and I currently don't have a blueprints tab in my build menu. Did I miss that update?.?.?. Edit: I'm trying to build in the skyline valley shelter. I'm guessing that's the issue, no blueprints or resources itemslike crops and animals?!?! I'm super confused

I'm pretty sure they haven't removed it. I'm not sure why it would have disappeared. 🤔 Unless you're in a shelter? The tab isn't available there for some reason. Otherwise if restarting doesn't work I'd try a support ticket.

I love Fallout. I hate the slot machine and grind of live service games. Legendary crafting is just that, the grind of a slot machine with a bad payout. Skyrim usually has more players than Fallout 76. It doesn't have slot machines. Slot machines are not a substitute for content. They're just time wasters like time gates in a mobile game. Good riddance to this trash.

I never had a legacy weapon. Hell i just grabbed a god rolled fixer that ill never use. All that being said, as long as they dont mess with the .50 cal i dont have anything to worry about.

I wish they also jump up the enemies lvls and combat power. The game is pretty easy as it stands. I hope the adjustments they make to earl arent that bad. I already dislike doing that event as is. Takes 15 20 mins easy when fighting earl

There are too many of these new changes that look like they will be far more of a disaster than anything else. Bethesda needs to make some core changes to the game itself before adding changes like these. No one should be able to damage your camp. There is absolutely no reason to have this option in the game. I also believe pvp in free roam should not be an option either. There can be special areas or events that utilize the mechanic like Monster Mash still but not out in the open. The new legendary system sounds a gigantic hot mess. Lastly, none of these creature changes should come into effect until they boost full health builds. Enemies seem easy for players who have bloodied builds, unyielding armor, other buffs but are MUCH different for full health builds. Once they can get builds more optimized and balanced then changes to enemies can come. Then SOME of the enemies could use some tweaking. I'm not sure where Bugthesda is getting all these new ideas for the game but they don't seem well thought out at all.

There's no date yet. Most of it will be aimed for early September with the legendary crafting stuff some time after. December possibly or maybe early next year. Mischief night, assuming they get everything working will be Halloween. 🎃

i said years ago a new legend machine use mods to lock down 1 or more of your 3 stars perks n roll the others save me server hoping for years to get ok guns as u need roll guns 700 times with pure fucking luck to get a gun

Mixed bag overall. And nothing's set in stone yet so hopefully they'll come up with a better approach. I don't see it being anything but a net loss in the long run though even if they manage to deal with the worst issues. 😕

i dono if agree with get things faster n get bored with such a shit system just now i can only earn a few mods a day and need 4 per hit so like 2 roll mon 3 rolls tue thats shit and if i need break down 20 30 guns to learn a mod then build it back up sure it now kills of in game trading guns gone armor to cause like we all gonna break it down now so trades killed for sure but if you need mods to make the gun and keep adding to it what if it takes weeks per gun then per armor this could be a horrible slow system now getting what we want but taking weeks per item

From the look of it it'll be slightly slower firing but more accurate and you'll get an extra shot in. It'll feel a bit different but it'll still be effective.

@unif13 it's being reduced apparently, but they didn't say removed. At the same time though the base ap cost is coming down too, so the starting cost is lower in the first place. I think they're aiming for slower shots but more of them. It'll probably be a small difference in time-to-kill but it'll make for a better balance with other weapons.

Veterans will not like it because they spent years perfecting their gear while here comes the new guy I got BIS in 2 months. It's one of the things that killed games like wow for me.
