Watching this run again for the dozenth time, something struck me: there were clearly points throughout this run where Tomato was planning on letting donations get read for a while (e.g. while he was applying the pants), but because the donation tracker was down for the whole run, he and the couch had to keep up the commentary themselves for the _entire_ two-hour run, and they managed to do so without it sounding forced or awkward. @@louisvaught2495 that’s irrelevant to the fact that stats more or less do not matter in Bethesda fallouts. They did in the originals. The fact that people can’t see you even when you do obvious things so long as you are in sneak is shared between them.
@WALTAH2000 Жыл бұрын
@@louisvaught2495 What an ironic comment. He was literally able to get away with that because of his sneak skill. So in other words, that’s an example of how stats mattered in the original game. Yet you’re trying to use it as a slight in an argument about skills not mattering… Not to mention the paraphrase was an inaccurate joke descriptor of how the mechanic actually worked. Obviously it didn’t literally make the explosion less quiet. But if you’re sneaking when an explosion is going off, people will be less likely to see you, and thus less likely to suspect you being the one who planted it. The skill system in FO1/FO2 was not flawless. You’ll be hard pressed to find a perfectly balanced RPG, let alone from the 90s. Bethesda’s solution was to minimize the importance of the RPG elements entirely. Not a good solution, definitely an inferior way to go about designing an RPG. Fallout 3 was a crap game. Original Fallouts were great. Just accept it.

At around 34:35 Tomato was talking about the unique weapon Firelance which is an Alien Blaster that has a chance to spawn in several locations on the map. The enable player controls input at the end screen of New Vegas was hilarious! Can't tell if it's just for fun or a result of the programmers having to finish a game built on someone else's engine in a super short timeline, but I find it charming!
@RowiDankelsaft4 жыл бұрын
Actually the second. It was way easier to do that, than having to program a video editor from scratch to add it to an engine that was already a glitchy mess. In addition, this way it was easier to change the presentation depending of the endings you got and the ones you didnt.
@e.m.81844 жыл бұрын
It's actually standard procedure for characters who are voiced but are not supposed to be seen in-game. Some examples are daedric princes when they talk to you through their shrines in both Oblivion and Skyrim.
@DragonNexus4 жыл бұрын
I imagine with all the possible endings, it's way less intensive to do that than to make lots of video files and play movies as cutscenes. And there's probably some limitation with the programming that means a voice has to be asigned to an actor or a character model, and to have the voice cound central they give it to someone your height rather than a rad roach or something.
