Fallout London News: Two Versions?!

This past week there has been a lot of news regarding Fallout London, including two different versions releasing, devs attacking their community, lies uncovered, compatible mods, and more!

Fallout: London is a DLC-sized mod for Bethesda’s Fallout 4. As a continuation of the base game, the mod will allow the player to visit the previously unexplored post-apocalyptic environment of London.
As a divergence from previous official titles in the series, Fallout: London is not set in America. Visiting a totally new setting allows for us to explore totally new cultures which have not homogenized with their American counterparts. It also allows us to explore pre-war European history, and the effects the Resource Wars had on the class structured society of pre-war Britain.

I guess the good old "blame Todd" was to tempting. If they gonna do that, it would have been more inteligent to stick to the story. I sense some disunity from this. Attacking fans is propably the most common sin these days which honestly makes me less excited for the project because we all know examples of this and how they played out.

I agree with all that. But it's also obvious Bethesda released their patch to mess up the mod release. Bethesda are possibly making a fallout remake which they will want to chash in on before the remake mods do.

@@Bikeadelic Yeeaah... I don't think that Bethesda was seriously trying to sabotage FO: London, since the Next-Gen Update was planned since like... 2 Years I believe. What I do think what happened is that Bethesda released the Update a bit early so that FO: London/any other DLC sized Mods wouldn't have to go back to fix it after the release.

@@Bikeadelic That's been proven to be false. Bethesda does not care about a small dev team making a mod, they are not beholden to them or owe them anything. They wanted to capitalize on the Fallout show and released the next gen update for that reason. As well since the version of Fallout London we're getting is on the old Fallout 4 and not the patch, it proves that it didn't mess up the mod release at all.

I gotta say on the NDA, when a game from a big developer gets an date announcement then that is the agreed upon information that can be disclosed to the public. When it is delayed, then the information becomes confidential. I would think this was obvious

@@ThisisCitrus You do have a point here however, if misinformation was released before and it caused issues then it would be smart to make a NDA to stop it happening again in future, a NDA can be raised at any point in development. i have signed many NDA's and some of them clearly tell us "You cannot discuss anything about the project to anyone at any time" others are more lose and say "You can discuss x part bit not y" and if it got imposed because of the issues of wrong or incorrect information being released then should you be happy they have one in place now? The way the guy explained it in the post was just terrible tho and I do agree with you there was a way better way to say that or not to say anything at all, he did give Himself a bad look but you cannot tarnish an entire team for 1 persons actions. If you where working on a project of 10 random people and one of them did something bad, does that mean you are also bad?

Yup. Remember, the original release date was sometime last year. They've been taking their sweet time and being really obscure about why that is.

If they were smart they would hold off till FA season 2 if you think bout the marketing end of it all. shame they have to be dicks tho. People underestimate the stress devs go through away from the public. This new deal probably added alot more stress knowing doing it would cause delays and there just tired of hearing it. Still no need to be a knob but i think a little empathy for modern devs should be considered. If you want to know the kind of stresses devs go through i would advice you go to the guy who originally created fallout. He explains it in detail. I am looking forward to a british version of the game and look forward to have a laugh at the different accents all around the UK. including my own. ive never been one to get things on release date o im happy it been released when its released. That me though. hopefully this is a great learning experience for the devs how the industry works.

It is on GOG due to file size. Nexus is great for small to mid download size mods, but GOG can better handle large fie size downloads. I also think the devs wanted to see where the mod scene is. Many modders are using a depatcher to revert to an earlier version of F4 that still plays nice even with the new Creation Club stuff. A delay or wait does not seem unreasonable to me.

The problem is that Fallout London say the game is coming out on April 23rd, then they blamed having to delay the mod on Bethesda's next gen update patch. This news that was leaked shows that was a lie, and we are getting the April 23rd version and Fallout London just used the next gen update patch as an excuse to delay again. Has nothing to do with GOG. A delay is not unreasonable, but when the lie about why it is.

On steam you have the automated update version (BY DEFAULT) of the game that breaks FOLON's mod. They are having to release a FO4 DOWNGRADE path to go with the release of their mod. Why the delay? It was not mandatory, there is a way to turn off auto-updates, as well as an easy way to downgrade Fallout 4 since day 1. I never updated my Fallout 4 and still have a modded Fallout 4 pre-patch. About GOG, tons of people are blaming GOG for the delay, talking about how there is a review period that is delaying it.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who's skeptical of Team FOLON, they have been very toxic about this situation imo for seemingly no reason other than not wanting to admit any truths, while also in a way trying to gaslight the community for wanting answers.

From my perspective, it's never a good look to lie or deflect accountability, especially when you don't have to. That's a surefire way to lose good faith. In the grand scheme of things it's probably a "no big deal", because there are so many things wrong with Fallout 4 right now, that we have no idea at all about what to expect regarding how the mod will work. The developers should take this time to try and regain some of the good faith and/or respect they may have lost by their response to this issue.

Those guys think they are very important... but they're playing with fire, which is the playerbase hype. Once this is known it could be forgiven if the game is good, but probably (and hopefully) will prevent some people to thank them via money now players know their deceits. I'm saying this from before the release: they're only using the excuse of next gen patch to delay for free... idk if they were just didn't arriving to a stable release on date, or maybe there's something dark behind. This obscurity about the mod release or other details is not normal or even natural.

Now I'm not so sure that Todd "Liar" Howards and his friend Emil "badwriter" Pagliarulo aren't pulling the puppet strings... this is TOO WEIRD. Everything around London has become harsh from day to night. What a coincidence this happens when Fallout IP rose up from TV series, as it was buried and ready to meet St Peter since 76 deep failure, whose attempts to make it good had wasted lots of money, and the game is not good either. I'm gonna leave a question floating: is bethesda so doomly incompetent that everything around is going hell?

What they are doing is wrong. But at the same time Bethesda 100% released this patch to screw them over. If I'd worked on a project for years only for it to be screwed over like that I'd be upset to. It's likely these guys won't get a good payday now. What they should do is get the mod out ASAP to see if Bethesda screws it up woth another patch, thus demonstrating who the bad guys are. Unless of course the mod is bad anyway.

Are you aware that after the next gen patch any mod that edits NPCs will cause microstutter that is followed by low FPS for a short while. Next Gen update DID break almost all mods out there, because running 15FPS every time you encounter modded NPCs is the definition of breaking mods.

It's a free mod that I never expected to release when I first heard about it. That it even got a release date was the real shocker. I was disappointed by the delay for sure, but I'm only critical of things that get a price tag.

the truth is that the "hypegate" gone already opened and closed already. I can't expect the hype returning to what it was before. London team can say anything they like as an excuse and we can choose to believe or not believe but the world is tough and if you promise a date and miss it, you eat up your hype for nothing. And not only did they do this, but they did it at the last friggen minute so they ate up almost 100% of their own hype. It's a tough world for games even worse if it's a modded release with no marketing budget. It'll come out, half the people that would have played it then would have, and the ones who do are going to just be as critical as they were before the delay.

The problem is that the mod dev team lied about the reason for the delay after they specifically said the mod will come out April 23rd and released a announcement and trailer confirming that. Blamed Bethesda and then two months later said it wasn't actually Bethesda's fault.
