Go to mick and ralphs and use your luck to rob them at the poker table. Buy your way into Vegas. 5. Use those nice new weapons you stole and go give Benny some karma 6. Talk to yes man before turning him into goo with plasma rifle 7. Walk straight past Mr house while he's trying to be smug with no aknowledgement, go straight to the back like he forgot to pay his cable bill and shut him off while he begs you not too. 8. Loved the humor. Top tier. But completely disagree on the ending take away. You can go anywhere in both 3 and NV. The stronger enemies deter you but if you're creative you can get through easy enough- same as if you went into Old Olney at the start of 3 it'd be tough. 3's story is way more linear too.
@Zeldarulah11 ай бұрын
Yeah I thought that was such a bizarre thing to say. New Vegas even does a great job of handling going to things in weird orders for the most part. Like this latest playthrough I refused to go to Vegas until I had gone everywhere else for a change, and then I never talked to Mr. House until after I had already gone to the Legion Camp and killed Ceasar and used the chip, and it handled all that very well. There was also a ton of extra things directing you to Vegas I never knew about--like all sorts of NPCs giving you hints about Benny's location. Normally I bee-line straight there lol
@sadaway430110 ай бұрын
@@Zeldarulah exactly. In 18 months Obsidian developed a pretty rock solid narrative accounting for all the different ways you can complete quests and interact with factions. That's also my experience. New Vegas allow you to go anywhere and do anything but due to connection between locations and quests, it always make it feel like cohesive and planned story. Plus you can decide fate of almost everyone named character in the game. Fallout 3 feels insanely linear in comparison. You can go anywhere-do anything but that experience doesn't offer anything better than New Vegas and feels like disconnected events due to lack of mentioned connections and worse writing all across the board.

@SparksProx I mean.. I played Fallout 3 and 4 once, and I have replayed New Vegas countless times. Why does this game have so much more lasting appeal than the other two? I even did try to replay Fallout 3 many years ago as a teenager after playing New Vegas and was like "This is a lot worse than I remembered it."

In dead money, when meeting Dean if you use any of the skill checks he doesn't trust you and you cant save him, if you just go thought his meeting without using the skill checks you can "save" him in the end meeting because he trusts you

You’re exactly right. It’s a really clever thing that games should do more often, because we so often blindly hit skill checks because we assume it will lead to a better outcome, but think about it, if you use a Science check to show off how smart you are to some Freeside thug, of course he’s gonna call you a stupid nerd and try and kill you! It’s a role playing game!

Funniest shit about my playthrough was I fucked up and didn't save my favor from the King, so he wouldn't stop the violence against the NCR in freeside. So after getting Hsu to promise him resources, Pacer decides to try and kill everyone in a room completely filled with NCR soldiers, leading to him and several members of the Kings dying. After that I go back to Ambassador Crocker and he says that he's glad that the situation was able to be resolved "without violence". Genuinely laughed at that.

Watching NV footage with Witcher3 background music tickles my brain in a way I can't quite explain...
@WastedPot11 ай бұрын
Wow. The way you explained how the open world is presented differently in NV vs F3 is super accurate. I personally prefer the way NV was laid out because it’s the antithesis of Bethesda’s awful level scaling, which I suggest is a result of the more open presentation of a Bethesda open world vs the Obsidian one. I trash on the way BGS does it because they gutted skills in favour of a perk driven system with no level cap. I prefer the tighter designed experience Obsidian delivered, the old BGS titles did too. I can’t deny the merits associated with BGS open world design though, I’ve sunk many hours into their games.
