Actually in 76 it's the Tattered Field Jacket (costing around 2.5M Caps, that price was given by players) because the red asylum dress was dupped. But it's not armor, it's just an outfit, so the most valuable armor in F76 is the Secret Service Armor, it is worth gold

The only reason the red asylum dress is less than that is cuz the max cap count in 76 is 40k I’m pretty sure deals are done using multiple characters, each with max caps sometimes tho so probably more around 100k

At that point, trades aren't done with caps but instead are done with god roll gear, "smaller" trades in the 200,000 area are done with leader bobbleheads as traders value them at 500c per, so 100 leaders is 50,000, and some people have thousands of them sitting on "pack mule" characters

The Red Asylum has dropped in price tremendously. The PTS indicated that it would be obtainable through mutated party packs, so the current most valuable outfit is the tattered field jacket(somewhere in the 2 million cap range). The leather coat is worth around 1 million. Today you'd struggle to trade a red asylum for anything over a forest camo jumpsuit and, if the change goes through, it'd probably be worth 40k at most
