As a non-english speaker, this is the hardest accent I've ever heard in my entire life. A drunk scottish man arguing with an irish at a random bar in New Zealand is easier to understand. That's how hard it is. I still jam to this, whatever he's saying.

This is hinted at in the line “I’m just a notch in your bedpost, but you’re just a line in a song.” I hope this was helpful

I'm a black mother who raised my kids in a mostly black neighborhood and my black punker son who's 28 and has always listened and prefer rock & heavy metal music since the age of 5 yrs old had gotten me hooked on Fall out boy and other rock and heavy metal music . I told him in spite of teens and my other 3 adult kids who were hip hop and R&B not to change who he was. I told him that just because you're black doesn't mean you have to like R&B and hip hop . Ppl respect the real you. At 22yrs later he's still never had any problem in our mostly black neighborhood .Just thought I'd share something good. Be yourself. Support who your kids are as long as it's positive. Yes I rocked this song in my car hard for yrs 😂😂 Have a safe good night everyone.

I was in my 30s and I went to Vegas to be with my stepmom and 2 of my nephews and my oldest nephew his name was Frankie and he was 18. We decided to go out and drive around. We love to cruise the town and I said we have to stop and get this CD and I played this song over and over the whole night and he said he dreamed about that song and couldn't get it out of his head. I am currently in a nursing home since last August and I'm waiting to have hip surgery (I feel old) I'm watching MTV and this song reminds of that night. My nephew accidentally over dosed 11 days after his 30th birthday 5 years ago and I miss him so much

I'm a professor of music, and one of the things I learned in music school is that good melodies often have: leaps up with step-wise motion down (that might add some twists and turns along the way), different rhythms for pitches where you have some parts that have a bunch of fast notes - some with just a simple single note or a space to rest your ears (but the basic pattern is leap up and move down), and then nested patterns where you think that a pattern is going to end but then it transitions into something new or it changes slightly at the end. Thus what you thought was (say) a 2 + 2 structure is actually the beginning of a larger 8-bar structure, which then itself is just half of a larger structure (verse/chorus). Over many years, I just can't find any better example of this than this song. Even the end of the first chorus is like this - instead of ending where you think it does, it adds a little transition before going back into the verse. It's amazing it doesn't sound too complicated, but I think it's because they crammed every catchy trick in the book in one verse and chorus.

So many Great memories (including some of my best friends) come to mind when I hear this song. It genuinely transports me back in time. Music is beautiful and powerful in that way. I've been searching for this music for 16 YEARS, since i was 8 yo! the only thing I remembered was that yellow wildlife alert sign and that the music became my favorite in the first and only time i heard it. I didn't even remembered the music anymore, just kept searching for it. Just found it, and it feels like paying a debt with my 2005 me. And to re-discover my love for this music.... it feels great!

It always feel good when you discover a song that you always play in your head but never know the title. It was the same when I discover Dance Dance by FOB. I heard it when I was in my junior high and don’t know any lyrics beside Dance dance lol had no idea that was the title and only discover it when I’m in senior high school. Been a fan ever since

As a 4 year old when I first learned this song I couldn't talk very well so I learned to say, "We're going daa daa ina ealia raaaa and sugaaa were gaaa daa swinging" And I used to think those were the actual lyrics. I would sing that at like 8 years old not knowing who it was by or what song it was, just the lyrics stuck with me throughout these years.

I want to go back to '05 so badly. Edit: I’m seeing all the comments from people who were just born or where toddlers. Just for reference, I was 10 years old. Unfortunately I didn’t catch this song when it debuted. I caught it one afternoon during spring break when it was on repeat at my best friends house back in 2005. My best friends gothic tween sister was playing this channel and this song just came on. I can tell you, times were more complicated and less convenient for adults, but they accepted it because they didn’t know anything about the technology we would have today in 2023. Life was good for us kids, because there was nothing to prevent us from living life by going outside and playing. The internet was bare bones, no KZbin, no Streaming Sites, the Internet would get disconnected when someone used the phone, and the only thing we could do was visit a few websites that had some flash games. Having a Computer at home wasn’t a necessity for kids. We could only watch what was airing on tv and adapt our schedules to it. Example: Say this song was scheduled to debut on April 4th, 2005 at 7pm on MTV. We had to remember to turn on the TV at 7pm, then switch to MTV to catch it. If we didn’t, then we were out of luck until next time. We literally could not record anything because our parents held onto the expensive camcorders. We had cheaper digital cameras, but I personally feel like they kept breaking. Time ran slower, because we were living life. Instead of playing with a smart phone and having time fly by. Personal: This song was an identity transition for me. In 2002 when I was 6 turning 7, We moved from the Bronx NYC, to Upstate NY. We came from an urban predominantly black/mixed/white community, and moved up to a suburban predominantly white community. The difference is so immense, sometimes I forgot I was only 40 minutes away from the big apple, and thought I was in another quiet state in an obscure town. Took me a little while to accept this type of music. Until 2005, This was the song that stuck with me. I guess because the video was very out there compared to what I was used to, and the band was really popular. This song is now representative of a huge part of my identity. When people ask about my childhood, this is the song I bring up.
