Carl is one of those people who tells him he can’t have what he wants, but Goodrich hasn’t received an answer like that for most his life and has difficulty accepting the reality when things don’t go his way

Carl Winslow showed tremendous restraint in not taking a swing @ Buddy Goodrich, & after Carl was shoved not once...but twice. Carl was right in arresting Mr. Goodrich for "attempted" assault. What's shocking, is Carl's own family didn't believe he was telling the truth from the beginning, & falling for Buddy "The Snake Oil Salesman" Goodrich & his "sales pitch". Bravo, Carl Winslow - you're a good cop!

Not only that but Buddy played his "character" when going to visit Carl's family later in the episode when he tried to bribe him into dropping the charges, which the entire family witnessed. Great episode! I only wish the court scene was in it too. =D

I've used similarities! 😆 But not exactly the same! One of the funniest lines someone ever said to me was,when I was working a security detail at a carnival. A guy biught a bunch of food and there was no seats for him. So I said... Have a seat on the curb buddy!... He says back to me, well ok! This episode is a perfect example of today’s world. Buddy Goodrich represents the majority of today’s generations that grew up never being told “no” and handed everything they wanted. Especially with all these social media “influencers” they grow up and act as if the world owes them. The world doesn’t owe you ANYTHING!!! This Buddy Goodrich character also reminds me of Bob Barker from The Price Is Right; Bob came across on CBS Daytime for many years as the smiling, genial grandfather figure (the W.G.M.C., he was styled) who loved giving away cash and prizes, especially cars, only for us to find out after his death that he wasn't how he came across on CBS all those years (assaults on the models, grumpiness, and all other manner of bad behavior).

But nice enough to the point of literally going out of their way, to look for the owner of the car who they don't even know, that is parked in the handicapped spot, to give that person a chance to move the car so they don't get a ticket? I don't care if you're white, black, or green. That is completely unheard of. A real cop will just give them a ticket and save themselves the hassle. They just don't have the time or energy to waste.

I wished they put the trial scene where Buddy's manager willingly testified against him and Buddy gets punished by not only being force to pay a big fine, but also spend the weekend cleaning up trash from the freeway.

I totally agree with you, about Carl Winslow and Phillip Banks being great father role models for African-Americans, and everybody, frankly! What was great about Carl and Harriet, is that they weren't rich like the Cosbys or Bankses, but still showed how to be a good law-abiding family, and doing the right things.

Carl was in the right. All Buddy had to do was move his car. Buddy was a conceited bad tempered twit! I felt sorry for Roger, his assistant. Goodrich probably treated him like a dog the whole time he worked for him! Then Goodrich tried to manipulate Roger to commit perjury on the witness stand. My favorite was when Harriette revealed that Roger broke down on the witness stand and told the truth. Then Buddy Goodrich fired him on the spot!
