They are a PERFECT LASO SQUAD, but not only that. They are also 2 perfect duos. Gavin and Fredo being more goofy and fucking around, and Michael and Jeremy being a little more serious while also being disappointed half the time with Gav and Fredo

It is an interesting dynamic especially cause Goofy Squad are arguably the better Halo players, with Gav's experience and Fredo's excellent aim. So they're good at the game but messing around all the time and Michael and Jeremy aren't as "good" but are trying twice as hard.

The Halo backstory is damn confusing to people who don't read every scrap of information from novels, comics, and pre-order pamphlets (or else the Halo wikis). But there's something just so funny about watching Gavin, the closest AH has to a Halo expert, talk over a cutscene explanation to his questions while asking the question he has. Short version: Humanity and the Forerunners fought in the distant past, and the Ur-Didact blasted them back into a primitive state as revenge for the war and began Composing them into Prometheans to rebuild his armies. This is why the Librarian sealed him away in a Cryptum, which saved him from the Halo activation by the Bornstellar-Didact when the Precursors/Flood attacked. Then humans became sapient again in our real-world history and began exploring space again, eventually creating the UNSC. Long version: The Forerunner Trilogy of novels, the real prequels to Halo 4. Chief walked into part 4 of a different story than what he thought.

The reason Gavin is confused is that he was more into Halo in the Bungie days, a time when the backstory WAS that the Forerunners were ancient humanity who sacrificed themselves to stop the Flood. It's only since 343 took over the franchise that the Forerunners are a separate species.
